I hate raw oysters. Never ate them in the first place.

    I've never eaten one either.

    No desire to do so.

    I do like them fried.

I'm not into that raw food of any type ****.

I don't eat them in the summertime, that's when the bacteria/virus is the biggest problem. I also don't eat anything caught in the Calcasieu estuary.

But I love two dozen raw with about three longnecks in cool weather.

There is a professor here working on a way to irradiate raw oysters to kill the virus without cooking.

Back home we eat them year round ... but only folks who know the trick

to do it ... Just take your freshly shucked oysters into a bud's workplace and get them "zapped" with Iridium 192 (decaying radioisotope) ... bacteria is dead and gone and they're safe to eat ... anytime

... see oyster pics after radiation at gratisrukken.com

I believe that the philosophy of only eating raw oysters during months that have an R in them started in the days before modern refrigeration made it possible to transport and store oysters under ideal temperature all the way from the oyster buyers to the restaurants. I do tend to eat them more in the cooler months but I don't shy away from eating them anytime.
