Folks, this is the day that we have waited for with so much hope and anticipation. Those of us who have followed LSU football for many years (40+ for me) can scarcely believe that it is here. On this day those of us who are not at the game will come together in spirit with those who are representing us there. To LSU fans and alumni across the country and around the world, those "stately oaks and broad magnolias" are calling us. The Spirit of LSU that lives in us will be with our team and fellow fans in New Orleans. Wherever we are, in front of our TV or computer or by our radio, this is the day for us all to join together and summon up all of the love and support we have for our school and team and send those good vibrations to New Orleans tonight. Wherever you are, make your presence known today. Let's hear from you! From the Commonwealth of Virginia, my undying devotion, love and support is with the LSU Tigers tonight! Forever LSU, Richard Lewis LSU Class of 1978 (In memory of R.F. "Bud" Lewis, LSU class of 1949)
Tonight's crowd is a lot larger than what we'll see at the Superdome tonight. Tonight's crowd extends from the coast of the Pacific to the coast of the Atlantic. Tonight's crowd extends from the border of Canada to the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. 95% of America's televisions will be watching our beloved Tigers take the field. This is our day. I've been a Tiger fan all my life, 28 years now, and this is the day I have lived for. Forget last year, forget next year. The time is NOW. Call me what you want, but just thinking about the position we're in right now brings tears to my eyes. Could this be the best Tiger team ever? Who knows, but this is the best Tiger team of my life. This is a Tiger team no one will forget. To the mighty Tigers of LSU, I raise my glass and salute you. Whether you win or lose, you will always be champions. PS....great post Pastimer. We all know our Tigers will feel our presense no matter where we are.
I actually got goose bumps reading your posts thanks so much. This will be a day of deliverance for LSU people all over the world including those young men fighting for freedom over in the middle east, defending freedom in Asia and keeping the peace in Europe. To all Tigers I will toast you at noon today with my first beer.:geaux: :lsug:
Amen I have my sugar bowl replica jersey on and am planted firmly between the computer and the big screen.
I have a party here tonight consisting of BBQ chicken and all the fixings. My son in law and two other friends will be here. One is a Dallas Cowboy fan and the other is an OLe MISS fan but they are both for LSU in this one. I even Have them honorary LSU ball caps, I have 3. We started the whole thing off last night watching the cowboys Lose. We certainly want things to go better tonight. There will be lots of yelling. NO other football game has meant so much, through the years there have been some VERY big games, I've really THOUGHT were important. This is like 1000 times bigger. I can remember vividly laying in my bed at 10 years of age ( 30 years ago ) and listening to WWL and "Cholly Mac" coaching the Figtin' Tigers and playing 'Bama for what seemed like the most important game in the world. Well at the time it was. A win agaisnt 'Bama back then to me was like a national Championship. But that was then and this is now. The people have changed, but the TIGER spirit is THERE just like it was then. A winning spirit and attitude that I can't seem to identify with any other college team. Tonight a great force unseen will rise up and make it self known across the great nation. TIGER NATION ! Geaux Tigers
I don't know that I can add anything to what has been said. I too am a fan of 30+ years and agree this is the best team of my tiger lifetime. I also remember listening to WWL when the tigers beat Ole Miss (17-16) greatest radio memory. I was fortunate to be in tiger stadium during the earthquake game. I love my tigers so much that I drove 1100+ miles in 1999 to watch the opening game of that season when we went 3-8. There is a diversity of FB fans in my family, from Ole Miss, UF, FSU, LSU, Bama and Miami, but most of them are pulling for LSU. I know it's because I have been a loyal fan and that is the biggest reason, and it makes me proud. If I were fortunate enough to attend this fine game, even if LSU lost I would do my very best to involve all the fans to stand and chant with what voice we had left, LSU, LSU, LSU to show this team and staff how proud we are. Laugh if you will, but I'll do it in my living room tonight even though they can't hear me. However, I believe we will be screaming with delight of a national championship. Geaux Tigers! And I thank each team member for this year’s memory. Jeff and Charlie this win is for you!
We will be watching every min. from Arizona cheering and supporting our TIGAHS..... Cheers to all the LSU fans in NO. And around the world.. Have a good time and make it loud......
I have been watching LSU football since Pat Screen was the QB (in fact, I thought the screen pass was named after him), and this is the best LSU team I have ever seen. I hope that we will dominate Oklahoma and show the world that LSU is the national champion regardless of what the USC metrosexuals say.
