It's true he made the changes.. and our defense is leaps and bounds better. Now our offense is weak. The problem is on the offensive/defensive lines IMO -- and looking at the depth chart this should get better with time. Tons of teams have problems.. but how many teams can boast the talent level that LSU has? That's few and far between.. we're likely top-5 in the country when it comes to talent.. so we definitely have the horse power -- so where is the bottle neck?
Miles also said that this was the best offensive line he's ever coached. We've had alot of attrition on the offensive line (players leaving the team, transfers, etc). It could be Crowton -- that's true. You're also 100% right in saying it's out interior line that is the issue.. but Crowton never struck me as the 'power type' of offensive guy. We definitely should NOT fire Miles midseason.. that would be disastrous!
OK, then answer the two questions: Who is going to come here and outdo an 80% winning percentage, 100% bowl winning percentage, SEC and National Championships, top-5 recruiting and is undefeated and ranked in the top 10? What top coach would want a job when that impressive record isn't good enough?
I'll take Miles over just about any coach out there...He's got heart and his teams aren't quiters...Lets not forget MSU is an SEC team with a good new coach...They were motivated more than us because we have kicked their rears the last few years...No we're not playing to the best of our ablility yet...who cares we are winning..and believe me in the big games like georgia and Fla....we will be motivated and ready...the defense is growing each week and finding their identitiy and it looks like they are going to be dominant by years end..and the offense has made some progress ie the deep passing was much better this week...
this. and with my sincere apologizes to nootch, who needs to quit reading now.... to all of you who think the grass is gonna be greener with a new coach, i have two words..... curley hallman
I'm not sure the "undefeated and ranked in the top-10" means much at this point in time.. this is just a media ranking.. and as we've seen thus far -- they've sucked this year as a whole. But who is going to outdo an 80% winning percentage and the bowl record? That's not up to me -- I personally feel that Brian Kelly could match those results. He's got the accolades, etc. I do think that Miles is the best bowl coach in the nation.. his teams come out and look brand new. Kelly, Patterson, Gruden.. there are big names out there who I doubt are afraid of expectations.
The sky is certainly not falling guys. Don't think I'm spouting doom and gloom.. I'm far from it. Our defense played very good tonight.. and Jefferson has arrived. Lafell is insanely good.. and Shepard.. oh-oh-oh my. And yet we required a goal line stand to beat freaking MSU. Does this sound OK to everyone?
LOL, I am gonna bookmark this thread and come January I will bump it and pm the OP and ask him for his "thoughts". I am pretty sure and willing to bet that his thoughts will be very different. Just one bit of wisdom for ya, did the Lakers fire Phil Jackson just because they weren't winning the title? Nope, they road out the storm and BAM. You are young and in college, stop thinking so much and start listening, you just might learn something...
Feel free to bump it in January. I won't rub it in your face if I'm right either, I promise. I don't want to be right. I want to win a January bowl game. Hell -- I'll send Miles an apology card if this team turns around and I'm wrong -- hold me to that :thumb: I just think anything below 9-3 every single year is unacceptable. There's absolutely no reason we should finish unranked or outside of the top-15. We're to good for that.
