They have been working 24-7 on the upper deck all through the holidays, apparently. Most of the south ramps have been demolished. The 1500-ton crane was repositioned and they are now starting to take down the northern support beams. Meanwhile construction of the new ramps and elevator cores continue. Dandy Don reports that the field is also being reconstructed and that the spring game will have to be played elsewhere. I wonder if that has ever happened before.
Red, you may want to rescale and repost that pic. It's huge! Any of our dial-up lurkers are gonna be waiting a long while for that thing to dowload! I was just wondering where the Spring Game might be played. I vote New Orleans, perhaps Tad Gormley (LSU won't pay for the right to play in the Superdome).
It might be a good opportunity to play in Shreveport in the Independence Bowl stadium. LSU once played occasional home games in Shreveport to increase support from north Louisiana fans. They fill that stadium every year in the bowl game and they might turn out big for a Tiger purple & gold game.
I'm surprised that no one in administration thought of selling pieces of the West upper deck--proceeds go to the renovations or towards Mike's habbitat (even though I know TAF has already picked up the tab on that). Personally, I'd like to own a piece of Tiger Stadium! Own a piece of "Death Valley".
