I think if you can frustrate Bush a lil he will lose his cool. He showed it against Fresno. He still had a good game but maybe that's a weakness. Need a Fred Smoot type chit talker to give him hell.
The key to shutting Bush down, is the close the holes in the line. The reason he gets big chunks of yardage is because the O-Line gives him a big hole. With Bush's impressive acceleration and quickness, he hit the hole full speed. He is almost guaranteed 8 yard if he gets through the hole because he is wide open. If you close the holes up and string him out East to West you will shut him down. Or if you have impressive and fast LB's that can avoid the blocks and get to the hole he is running through. That is why I think a team with a good defense like LSU or UT can shut USC down. Fresno state was the best ranked defense that USC played, at that time. LaTech put 40 points on them. Sure USC has a great RB and a great offense, but what defense have they played.
I don't have a problem with giveing a team with one of the slowest defenses in college football their own category for speed.
But then you've got to contend with him lining up in the slot or at wideout and catching the ball on you (which he does as well as, if not better than, anyone in the nation) if you shut him down on the ground. Before this season, I was convinced that Reggie Bush's future at the next level was going to be as a WR.
Also, UT's defense isn't looking so fast thus far against the Buffs. They keep getting burned on the edges, sometimes by their slow QB. I keep seeing plays where we would have stopped them well before.
