OK, LSU has gotten some flack about its weak schedules, even though the informed folks know that for this year's schedule, two teams backed out before the season started, requiring us to scrounge around for ULM and Western Illinois, and that Arizona went 12-1 the season we scheduled this year's game.

However, consider these questions... where would we be ranked if we had not lost to Florida? Where could we be ranked if we win our remaining games and get a little assistance over the next few weeks?

My point is (and I do have one) is that the SEC schedule for us gives us enough SOS to reach the top echelons even with the weak OOC teams we've played this year. The catch is it probably doesn't leave us with any margin of error with the SEC opponents, unless we get some help soon with losses by USC and Ohio State.

But on the flip side, if we played a tough OOC schedule, it would mean a greater chance of losing one or more of those games, and still having to win all/most SEC games. We all probably agree that 2 or more losses, regardless of the SOS, all but eliminates any team from contention.

So basically it may be a wash.... weak OOC means greater likelihood of better overall record, tougher OOC means that one loss is not as big of a hit, assuming two BCS teams don't go undefeated.

Sorry for the rambling post... :)

    MY POINT

The one thing that really gets my goat is the fact the We (LSU) get hammered in the polls about our weak OOC. But teams like TCU get all kinds of pub and they play worse schedule then we do. So it hurts LSU to play weak OOC but it helps TCU to play weak schedule.:dis:
