Big Baby was forcing shots he shouldn't have taken, but he was hell underneath the glass. Once he gets position on someone, no way anyone else can get the rebound his body is so huge. It's obvious that Minor has matured from last year. Both him & Nelter are the 2 most improved players on the team although Brandon Bass might have something to say about that. Nelter is a pleasant surprise. While he's still a defensive liability, his court presence is welcomed on the offensive side. He made 2 or 3 outstanding passes to Bass down low setting him up for an easy 2. I don't think our PGs could have made those passes. Bass is definitely gone after this year. Unless for some odd reason he wants to stay around another year & play with Tasmin Mitchell, he will be a top 10 pick lock after this season. Koundjia still stinks on offense, but I'll tell you what...Hudson is playing like a new man with confidence. When he plays like that, no one can stop him--definitely an All-SEC type player the way he played tonight...he reminded me of Kennedy Winston. We have a long ways to go, and I expect a few bumps in the road (e.g. maybe an early OOC loss or getting blown-out by Bama or another SEC team), but in the end, we have the talent & experience to make a decent run in the tourney.
I thought Minor looked outstanding..... he's startin to play under control while still going full throttle.....
how many did bass score tonight? I missed the end of the game, but I remember them talking about it being the highest numbers he's ever put up in an LSU jersey. I see very, very little chance of Bass staying around for next year. He put his name in the draft last year to see if he went top 15. He should be top 15 by the end of this year, and even if he felt like he could improve his game by sticking around another year - he'll be making serious bank to go pro and can make the improvement once he's in the NBA. I see 2 possible scenarious for Bass to stay: an injury that would bring down his draft status, OR such a love for LSU that he wants to come back with himself, Davis & Mitchell - and make a serious run at winning the championship game.(Although I don't see this happening).
If Bass wants to be the #1 pick overall he will stay 2 more years. If he is happy w/going somewhere in the 1st round and not getting to much pt in the NBA (for a few years), he will leave early. If I were him I would stay. Look at Swift, took off early and hasn’t gotten much pt until this year. It takes a special person to want to graduate and shoot for the NC & #1 pick overall. It seems like LSU will have a top 5 team if he stays for 2 years. I think Tim Duncan was the last senior to get a NC & get picked first. He made out pretty well. Come on Bass, finish as a senior and go out on a super high note.
I don't know if I'd wait. I know it is a crap shoot with the draft lottery but odds are if he stayed 2 years and went 1 or 2 he would go to a crappy team. He could wind up in a better situation by leaving early and maybe going late first round. I guess it depends on his season this year but I don't see him sticking around. I think the money would be there no matter what is he has a good season.
Top 15 picks always go to a horrific team unless a good team trades up. I could see going pro early if your family is homeless. If your family struggled for 20 years, what’s two more?
