It will never happen, but here are some observations after watching the Rose and Sugar Bowls:

Michigan was trying to cover tall WRs with short DBs. LSU's DBs are not short and they covered receivers all year like gloves. I was very impressed with Leinert, the USC QB, and his receivers, though.

Michigan got little pass rush most of the time. LSU has a great pass rush. They can put pressure on the QB without blitzing.

Michigan's OL looked like they did not pass block very well and their LT did not move his feet very well or so it appeared to me. Andrew Whitworth, LSU's LT, moves his feet pretty well.

LSU's OL does pass block well. Oklahoma had a great DL and it did pressure Mauck. I would expect USC's first rate DL to also put pressure on him. It would be a battle.

Chris Perry may be a good runner, but he was a flop as a pass blocker. He missed a couple of blitzes that I noticed and he appeared less than enthusiastic about getting in the way of a couple of others.

Michigan QB John Navarre was immobile and even worse, indecisive and had a woefully slow release. Mauck would do better than he did considering his mobility and I think he would get the ball away quicker.

USC did do a great job of covering Michigan's good WRs, but they did not play nearly that well in other games during the year. Several teams had good success throwing the ball on USC.

I think LSU would throw the ball against USC much better than Michigan did because of their WR speed, their pass catching TEs, and Mauck's ability to scramble and roll out.

I don't know who would win, but I think it would be close.
