There is an idiot councilman in Dallas named John Wiley Price who made a huge stink this past summer over a white councilman saying something about a messy city office being a "black hole." First of all, he obviously had NO idea of the scientific definition of a black hole, so the reference was totally lost on him. Then, he went off for 10 minutes about how everything "black" meant something bad and everything "white" meant something good.
No kidding. I'd hate to see the consequences if we evacuated all our poverty to another city and concentrated them in one place. I think the folks that ask me about the thugs of N.O. are into the camp of "we have our own criminals, we don't need to be importing another city's". Just my guess.
