We won on a miracle, of course I'm ecstatic. IMHO we didn't win because we were the best team. We had our share of breakdowns on the last drive (not calling timeouts, penalties) We just won. We just found a way. That's Hawkeye Football. Right place, right time, and a fortunate turn of events that we were able to capitalize on. We stay composed, not commit the penalties and call the timeouts, we probably don't win. I can't say enough about the character of the Tigers. Time and time again we struck and time and time again they answered. Other teams wilted against us (OSU and Wisconsin.) Honestly, I thought we would cruise to a victory during the third quarter when your D was tiring out and we found our running game. Give your kids a pat on the back. They need it. Coming back from 12 down in the 4th against a Kirk Ferentz coached team is no small feat. Here's to the hope we meet again someday. :thumb:
Just as your team has found a way to win despite the injuries etc, our team has found a way to come back in the 4th quarter. We found a way to come back as advertised, and Iowa found a way to win, as advertised. Great game...both teams were deserving of a win.
Thanks. There's no doubt that the fans got to see an exciting finish. The game could obviously have gone either way. Our two teams are very evenly matched, although I would say that your coaching staff is superior to LSUs. I also believe that Ferentz is a better HC than Nick Saban.
Thanks mongoose, it was a hard fought victory for your team and a real heart breaker for ours. The teams were obviously pretty evenly matched but it all usually comes down to one team makes the plays(or play) and the other one doesn't. Good win for a quality program good luck in the future.

Don't think it was a mircale... Give your coaching staff more credit. The entire game was a great chess match between two of the best coaches in college football -- they both made ajustments to take advantage of the others weakness and shore up their own. In the end, Ferentz gutsy call and the great play of you quarterback won the game...man, what a great game. The class of your post as well as many others by Iowa fans match the class of your team...best fans that I ever remember on message boards...congrats!
Mongoose470, thanks for the classy comments. I am very impressed with your team and fans. Most Hawkeye fans came to our boards to talk football and the bowl game and may have been put off with our big time distraction over all the Saban stuff. But you stayed through all that, and you and your team certainly showed up today and gave 110% on the field. You found a way with that blocked punt to score some points in the first half, found a way to run on us some in the 2nd half and build a lead on us, and when we fought back to get on top, you found a way to go deep on us with no time left. Much praise to your QB and the rest of your team to maintain the poise to pull that off when time was running out after the penalty. I congratulate you on this fine win and wish you the best for next season. It would be fun to run into y'all again sometime.
The Iowa Fans at the game were great also. I sat in the South Endzone which was mostly hawkeyes. Had a great time and enjoyed being at the game except for that last play!
No, no miracle. Both teams played poorly until the second half. Iowa broke through first, the Tigers finally came alive but it was too little too late. The Tigers came out flat but Iowa was the better team, today.
