    Guys,

(Note: Ohio State is excluded from this analysis because-a-they've not had a signature win yet this year and -b-they'll lose this week and be irrelevant to the discussion anyway)

Each of the serious contenders for the (all togeter now) Mythical National Championship have at least one game to which they can point as being dominant in the eyes of national observers.

Oklahoma, for example, totally dismantled a talented yet very inconsistent Texas team, a win that really separated Okla. from the pack among college football observers.

USC destroyed a pretty overrated Washington State team, which because Wash. St. has coasted during the rest of their cake schedule is a win that continues to look really good on paper for the Trojans.

What's our "signature game"? Surely not a win over a 5 (or perhaps 6) loss Auburn team or a very close win in which we (I must admit) got some luck mixed in with our very solid play against Georgia, right? For the purposes of this thread, it has to be a sizeable, far exceeds expectations going into the game margin of victory.

Therefore, our one chance to do something that, prior to the SEC CG, would make people say, "Wow, these guys are really, really good." is to go into the crucible that will be Vaughn-Hemmingway this Saturday, face down the otherworldly (if you believe the press clippings this week) Eli Manning and a rabid Ole Miss crowd...and beat the living sh** out of them in front of God and everybody.

I mean a 3-plus touchdown victory, with Manning getting sacked/hit/pressred 10 or more times during the game and our stable of RBs topping 150 yds rushing at the very least.

Something similar to what we did versus 'Bama would be nice, but because the nation's interest will be so focued on this game and this opponent, it would have far greater impact.

    I'm calling it 38-16, LSU...and that's being conservative.

I forgot to add: if we're going to catch USC in one or both polls, big wins starting this weekend are essential.
