This past weekend is perfect example as to why the new BCS formula won't work

If I'm a Georgia Bulldog fan, then I would be hopping mad.

The Bulldogs get 2 measely votes in the AP, and 1 vote in the Coaches. Basically Georgia has made no headway toward making it as one the 2 teams playing in the Orange Bowl.

Let's look at the games. USC is idle, OU has a lackluster performance against a very average Texas Tech team. Georgia makes a very strong LSU team look silly.

This is the weekend that proved to me that the voters do not take their job seriously. I was hoping to see a different result. Yeah, I know, that was dumb of me.

The voters must really be looking forward to that showdown between USC and OU. Because Georgia can run the table with wins, beat Tennessee, Florida and Auburn in the SEC CG by 21+ points each and still not make it to the BCS Championship, should USC and OU run the table as well. And USC can have as many of the close calls as it wants, like that of Stanford. It just won't matter.

F*ck you BCS committee. F*ck you.

Oh one other thing, should USC beat Cal this weekend, look for USC to have more than 100 first place votes in the AP poll, as many of the voters will suffer from delirium (or euphoria?) and mistakenly vote for USC twice.

Actually Mock BCS standings show Georgia number 2 right now, so they would make it.
But I agree voters suck and this system is sh!t...

Yes. Georgia's No. 2 right now, but do you know why that is? Oklahoma is averaging around 11 in the computer polls right now. If they continue to win, they will get higher in the computer polls as the season wears on. So, bottom line, if Oklahoma closes to within one spot of Georgia in the computers, then Oklahoma probably passes Georgia in the BCS Standings eventually.

The only REAL way for Georgia to have a chance against an undefeated USC and Oklahoma team would be if the voters do the right thing and start spreading the first place votes around a little better than they have so far.

I am so sick and tired of this bull**** voting.

    Are people just this stupid?

For UGA to not be either #1 or #2 is a joke and shows how much the pre-season really effects people.

I stand corrected....I do wish the coaches votes could be made public.

It was just a few weeks ago that plenty of fans felt UGA was way over rated because they skated by less talented teams. Voting cannot be that reactionary, the only solution may be to not publish preseason/early season rankings . . . until the voters get a chance to see these top teams play for at least a month. That said, UGA didn't look like the 3rd, 2nd, or 1st team in the country against SoCAr, Marshall, or GeorgiaSou. Against us they looked like the top team in the country.

However, I have yet to see a team in any year that looks like the #1 team in the country all year long. OU was close last season, but they did lose their last two games (in the CCG and the NC). If voting was that reactionary then the top 25 would change constantly, teams would be ranked #2 one week and then win yet play poorly and be #24 the next week.

Now, I agree UGA should be either 1 or 2 . . . but that kind of thing shakes out as the season goes along. It is not likely that OU, SC, and UGA will all go undefeated. However, UGA has just as good a chance as any team in the country to make the NC as long as they keep winning. If they lose, they don't deserve to be ranked over undefeated BCS conference teams.

I've been thinking about the AP voting lately, and the complaints of bias. I'm not sure how many voters are located in the city of Los Angeles, but it can't be enough to sway the votes that much. The problem may be AP voters in cities outside of LA that are voting against everyone else in favor of SC. Why would a southeastern sportswriter vote for SC over UGA or OU? Can we call that bias. What reward do these sportswriters get for voting for SC over a team playing just as well in their own backyard.

We all know how this stuff works. Being in the SEC if you go undefeated or finish the year with 1 loss you have a better chance of playing for the BCS title over many other conferences with teams having the same record. Some call that bias. But that is how this stuff shakes out during the season, and that is the reward for playing in a tough conference. Cal could beat SC next weekend and that could thrust UGA into the #1 spot . . . but UGA has to keep winning. We felt we were underranked early in the season, yet with 2 losses it wouldn't be fair to keep LSU in top 5. Same could happen to any team in the top 10 right now. You don't win your games you will fall in the rankings. I'll change my tune if SC or OU losses 2 games and stays ranked in the top 5 this early in the season. Right now they are undefeated and deserving of their high ranking just like UGA. We would be in the same boat had we not lost 2 games. Just my opinion.
