This is what I don't like about the polls! (Notre Dame)

Everybody has been talking about Notre Dame as having a national championship type team and they get ranked #2. But if you follow recruiting, you know they don't have anywhere near the talent of teams like LSU and Texas. ND has a great offensive coach and a good quarterback.

Now if there number 2, I guess Ga Tech is a top 5 team, because Tech looked about as good as ND. However, I bet that ND doesn't drop at all or at least that much in the polls, which is nonsense. Anyone who votes ND 1 or 2 in the nation after seeing that performance is biased or blind to reality. But because of the dumb system you have to lose to drop far in the polls even if you're ranking is based on nothing but false preseason hype.

Cal is a similar story if you followed Cal and TN's recruiting for the last five years you know that TN is much more talented. I know TN had a down year last year, but the talent is there and they have much more of it than Cal. Look at the recruiting rankings. Look at the results.

ND looked average at BEST last night. Quinn for Heisman, my foot! GT is not very good, either.

Cal was ranked #9 to make the PAC-1 look better. They did not deserve to be in the top ten, and now they're not.

I don't think one loss will eliminate you, particularly the loser of this game. I don't see anyone running the table.

It's way too early to say you don't see anyone running the table. I agree that it's a very wide open year, but I don't think it's inconceivable that there will be undefeated teams to end the season.

I do think it's going to be really tough for the SEC, though. The upper tier is looking quite elite early on. Florida, however, didn't impress me in the early going against USM.

The game in Auburn in two weeks is going to be HUGE. I'm already nervous. I really do think it'll be for the West.

But back to UT/OSU. I have to pull for OSU in this one. UT is going to be really unchallenged after next week. The Big 12 looks pretty weak, though Nebraska may be improved. OU is in a nosedive right now and the rest of the South division is very mediocre.

OSU will have a much harder road to go undefeated. Iowa, for one, will give them all they can handle, and I think that game is in Iowa?

And I watched some of the UNT/UT game. I'm not impressed yet by the freshman QB's. They are NOT Vince Young. They're not even Chris Simms.

Aw, no sense bitching about the polls but I guess every one will. They'll never get them right according to the masses and I am glad the Harris Poll starts later in the season. As for the AP, I refuse to even consider it. it doesn't exist in my mind since the writers stated they did not want to make the news, only report it. So I'm following thier wishes.

I was at the Tech/ND game last night, just another in a long line of Irish games that were determined by the referees, 2 bad calls changed the outcome, one especially.

Korso and Herby were bragging about how much faster ND's defense was last night against GTech and that they shut down GT in the 2nd half. But the offense was supposed to be one of the best according to them and they couldn't do anything agains GEORGIA TECH!!! Yes GTech put up a fight and played good defense but according to all the pundits and reporters the ND offense is one of the best in the country. Lets see if Penn State can do anything with them. I would love to see Joe P knock them off.

Granted Auburn lost to them last year but that was Cox's fault with 29 interceptions.

Not me. That would just jump Penn St. from being a top 20 team to a top 6 team. Imagine the slurp fest when Joe PA beat the mighty ND.

Yes, the game is at Iowa... and will be the ABC 8 pm night game depending on who's ranked where that week (ABC may show Michigan - Minnesota instead and move our game to ESPN if tOSU should lose to, say, both Texas and PSU).
Anyway, we're having a "gold out" (Hawk fans will all wear gold) for the Buckies... should be a rowdy affair.

I'm surprised that they didn't present Quinn with the Heisman during halftime.
