Not that I'm upset about him winning or anything, because I think he is actually the best coach in the NCAA, but Nick Saban just won the FWAA/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year. Saban - AP Coach of the year, FWAA/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Stoops - Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Carroll - AFCA Coach of the Year (along with 4 other coaches) This goes back to my whole "too many awards" issue... It's just too much, Carroll shouldn't be coach of the year because he walked ass backwards into a "Title". Stoops shouldn't have been crowned Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year until after the Sugar Bowl, it was just a little premature in my opinion since he was out coached and out classed during the Sugar Bowl. Saban should be the lone coach of the year. Of course I'm biased! I think I made my point though...
Sort of like voting for the Heisman before all the games are played ... or like Justin Vincent not on the SEC all feshmen team because the votes were before the SECCG and the Sugar Bowl. Someday, someone will get smart and decide that awards should not be voted on until the last college game is played!
That will probably be the best statement put on this board today, the awards are all given out to early. Even if an award is supposed to be based on the regular season only then vote for it the Tuesday after the least regular season game and announce it whenever. I could agree that the conference championship games shouldn't count in the voting as only a hanful of players get to participate in them, but don't vote in November when there are still regular season games to be played.
