You can say it isn't and listen to saban when he says we are all focused, but i can gurantee the players are not focused to the point where they need to be. I don't expect them to be focused either. You have somewhere around 17 starters returning next year not knowing who their coach is gonna be. This is gonna hurt us badly against iowa. I felt confident about our chances of winning the game but now i'm not sure.

I agree somewhat. What I keep battling in my mind is if you are so happy in your current place, and you turn down a lot more money from someplace else (the 1st NFL head coach offer he had 3 seasons ago) and THEN become the highest paid college coach, why, all of a sudden, and only after one year of your new "highest-paid-college-coach" position, are you more interested in yet another NFL offer?

You can't tell me that he hasn't been getting offers for roughly the same amount of money (from both the Bears and Dolphins).

i agree, also Saban had to know after he disclosed the bears job that this would happen again next year. My point is why would saban sign a 7 year contract at LSU knowing he wanted to keep his options open?

    This could be exactly right.
Nick isn't from Louisiana or LSU so his allegiance to us is only temporary until
he decides to give the pros a chance or maybe wind up at Ohio State or somewhere he'd like to coach, maybe close to home?

You can deny it all you want but I believe LSU is turning out to be a stepping
stone for NS, better enjoy him while he's here and hope him being here will
bring enough attraction to LSU football to make a good or great coach want
    to coach here.

I love NS for coming to LSU and doing what he has done and will allways be
thinkful for the time he spent with us.

I'm trying to remember, when did the Bears job rumors and everything start last year? Was it before the Sugar Bowl? If so, then I'd say these things aren't stopping our team from focusing.

Well, it certainly can't HELP the team's focus!

    Can it?

It stands to reason that it will hurt the team's preparation, BUT, if we hear that Nick is staying at LSU by this Friday (17 December) then our preparation should not suffer at all.

All bets are off if he goes to the Dolphins.

Even if Nick stays, you KNOW that we will be going through this EVERY DECEMBER, so just get used to it. This really should not bother us that much, we should be used to it by now. We have a coach that everybody else wants.

I WISH SOME NFL TEAMS WOULD PURSUE BOB STOOPS! AFTER ALL, HE HAS WON A FEW GAMES, TOO!!

Wow, man! Thanks for pushing the bamboo shoots further under my fingernails! Man! Why don't you rip my eyes out--it'll probably hurt less.

I feel the same way now, having read your post, as I did when I was around 4 years old and my older cousin calmly turns to me with one of the most serious of faces and says, "You know. You're gonna die one day....and you can't escape it." To no surprise, I hadn't ever thought of it up until he said it....

Feeling revisited, Sourdough. Thanks! ;)

We assume that the players don't know more about the situation then we do.
