I was talking to my brother tonight. I was spouting the usual rhetoric about we still have a shot at the NC. He made the comment, "We will see what kind of heart this team has Saturday night. Will we rebound or will Auburn come take our heart." Good comments considering our former D coordinator visits along with our "almost headcoach" and they would like nothing better than to end all talk of a LSU NC or even SEC West title. So while the FLA game was huge, this game defines our season. I believe if we win, we roll the rest of the year. Should we lose this could unravel in a hurry.
I don't see an unraveling if we lose. But it will certainly end all the NC talk. And just about put to bed talk of an SEC West crown. All Auburn will have remaining on its SEC schedule is home to Ole Miss, @ Georgia, home to Bama. They'd have to lose 2 of those 3 for LSU to get in, assuming LSU wins out. But you're right. It's all on the line Saturday. After two straight bruising, epic battles, we'll see about LSU.
it will define our season, because if we lose our chances of even winning the West are pretty slim at best. It will give AU a two game lead...If we win, there is a chance we may be back at two, as USF has a tough game, and may be BC as well...after a week to rest we will definitely roll at that point!
I can't see the loser of this game having the window completely shut on the shot at ATL, but it'll only be a small breeze coming in. While I see LSU winning this game (in terms of overall talent) I don't see it being as big as the spread is at this point. I'm figuring, it'll be what we all call a sloppy game. Auburn has a lot more on the line than LSU does at this point. With a loss, they would be relying on 2 of the 3 teams (Bama, Ole Miss and Arkansas) to win vs LSU. A loss for LSU could lead to a three way tie for the West with LSU looking to Georgia and Bama to pull out wins over Auburn. It's the SEC game of the week, no doubt.
True, but at this point, the AU and Bama games will carry a +2, and this is the first one up. I don't see AU losing to UGA or Bama.
I agree, how the players and coaches decide to play this weekend will define our season. What are the players made of and will the coaches make the right calls and if they confidence to play aggressive. The D play and calling has been awful and it is not the Pelini style we are used to seeing. We've seen this style of defense before...It seems in the big games Penlini gets scared of attacking.
Ky went to a three step drop and rolled the qb out making it almost pointless to blitz. Given the success Ky and Fla had with this approach, I suspect we will continue to see it.
I agree. Say what you will about Tubbs, but he's an excellent scheme-er; epsecially if someone else has provided a blue print. Having said that, I'm sure Pelini will make the necessary adjustments to counter that style.
