    and become an independent.
    Here's why!

I really like Obama, I like the fact that he didnt commit to a public option. I like the fact that he didnt cave to liberals or republicans in his speech. In my view he is still trying to find a common ground. He has his faults, but being this extreme left leaning liberal he is not.

However, its like its payback time for Pelosi and Reid. Pelosi more so, she is being vindictive and it doesnt sit well with me. Republicans in the first 6 years of the Bush terms. They said screw the democrats we will do what we want, we have the majority and the hell with you guys. Thats how the tax cuts happen, the patriot act, and other piss poor legislation. But now the dems are doing alot of the same. Its a pissing match and a poor one at that. They are both trying to win, both playing to their hard line party voters. But no one is winning, the people are losing out on a lot right now. Its time for Obama to get tougher with his congress and bring them back to the middle with or without republicans. Let them stew in their dispair.

Or I'll be like Parso and just dont vote, or vote for truly independents

    Same here.

I was actually registered Democrat when I first signed up to vote, because most of my family was. Later became independent, but tend to vote republican. I'm getting fed up with both parties and actually voted for Ron Paul in the presidential election. Would really like if more of the country felt like we did. Then, and only then, could we seriously get a push for another party in the mix.

I had to update my license to buy my pistol a couple years ago. When I did I switched from Republican to Independent.

I've been a registered independent for 35 years. Even if there were a moderate party, I'd likely be voting for moderates, democrats, and republicans depending on the issue. I've never understood the party-line mentality, where you have to agree with the entire agenda of a party.

    Traditional Conservative Republican here.

I moved from Libertarian to Republican because I really like what Ron Paul was standing for and his movement to a more traditional value republican. Not to mention his voting record and integrity.

I see most other politicians as sleezeballs.

What do you mean when you say you are a registered independent? Do you have no party affiliation or are you in an independent party?

I know it is semantics, but my voter registration card says "None" in the party affiliation box.

For a while it said other because when I registered I wrote in Jedi hoping that would be on my voter registration card.

When I first registered I could choose Republican, Democrat, Independent, or Other (fill in the blank). When we had party-only primaries in Louisiana, registered independents didn't get to participate. With open primaries now it doesn't matter as much what is on your card.

Perfectly stated, MM, way to go. I'd urge you to re-think the "maybe I just won't vote" approach, though. Too many Americans fought for that right, and too many people in other nations would kill to have it.
