    Caution: I stereotype people.

Little background: I'm not religious, have considered myself an independent up until this election - when I realized, if you're not on somebody's side, you're on nobody's side. I'm hoping to be a succesfull businessman and sometimes flirt with the idea of entering politics.

I think many of the new, young age voters are in the middle. It seems that I'm seeing less of the far left and/or far right wing people than of older generations. This generation is more focused on the candidate himself and his personal views than the party affiliation. This is a good thing. So, on to a rant....

Why are republicans typically religious people?
Why do liberals seem to be much less religious?

Simple things come to mind, 2 main points: Abortion and gay marriage. I think the implications behind these are pretty obvious, but I can't believe that people are voting based entirely on these two points.

I'm a member of College Republicans at LSU and we pray before every meeting. I'd say atleast 80% of the other members are religious. A friend of mine in College Democrats laughed when I asked her if they ever pray. These facts just seem to reiterate that Republicans are religious.

Why do celebrities seem to be democrats? Supposedly, Republicans are good for the rich... So why are these rich people always using their public presence to b*tch? Is it just that the Republicans don't whine as much?

According to studies, women are more likely to be Democrats than Republicans. I think this has to do with ideology. The idea of a socialist government sounds great (ps: this is an exagerated version of what liberals want); everybody is treated fairly and nobody is left suffering. This seems to appeal to women's sensativities. It's a shame it doesn't work... I think it's perhaps the competitive edge in business people that makes them vote Republican more. In competition, there are losers.

Would you republicans here vote for an unreligious leader?

I've heard democrats joke that Republicans all have the comb over, with glasses and don't have a sense of humor. I actually think that's a fairly good description of plenty of Republicans. Any other stereotypes all you guys want to add to either party???

i think one of the biggest problems with people today is they worry more about the party than the person that is running for the position. i think it more important to vote for the person not the party. being in a group like that i'm sure you're aware how large the number of registered dems are to registered repubs in louisiana yet bush will carry the state by double digits.

A Christmas bonus to a democrat is an extra block of cheese (or box of milk, whichever they prefer)

Other than John Kerry, the democrats I see on tv the most are Alan Colmes and James Carville. I assume most of them bear some resemblance to Yoda.

Two types of democrats in Mississippi:

1.) Gets out of jail at noon, goes and sits outside the store and start drinking the malt beverage of choice @ 1:00, barber shop @ 6:00, buy the drug of choice @ 8:00, to the club @ 10:00, arrested for public drunk @ 2:00. Repeat.

2.) Up at 8:00, to the office @ 9:00, off to court to sue another doctor or drug company @ 10:00, tennis @ 5:00, over-priced dinner @ 8:00. Repeat.

How do you even respond to a racist post like Marc's?

I guess I'll go sit on the porch and drink my Colt45 and smoke a blunt.

The topic was "stereotypes", although you should take a ride through the Mississippi delta some time and do a little research on a congressman here named Bennie Thompson and find out who keeps him in office.

BTW Crawfish, since you are such a champion of the poor and neglected here in America , why don't you take your beer money and all the cash you spend going to LSU games and help a few of them out? Wouldn't you get a lot more enjoyment from that?

The only racist I see, is you. No where in Marc's post, is color even mentioned, but obviously in your mind, the only people capable of committing such actions, are people of color. The last time I checked Republicans and democrats were not a race.
Now who's the racist?....................................... RACIST!!!!! :yelwink2:

I wonder, do morons know they're morons? Just thinking out loud!!!

You beat me to it Rickyd. Way to nail the softshell. If one conjures up an image of African Americans while reading those , it is he who is the ignorant racist. Take a ride around Southern La, Mississippi and Alabama and you'll see tons of white people fitting everyone of those images.

That's what's funny about Crawfish, he jumps on the race bandwagon every chance he gets and tells you to be "more aware of your surroundings". He seems to be the one who isn't all that aware of his surroundings. Plenty of all races that fit the stereotype I mentioned. The racial makeup may be different depending on the area you are in, but they are there. Maybe it would help him if he woud move on with his adult life and get a little further away from college campuses and experience everyday America a little more.
