Brian Cox said that he spoke with his two agents (don't ask) and both told him the same thing - the Bears GM don't really care because he's just setting up Jauron to fire him so that they can bring in Nick Saban from LSU. Don't kill the messenger - just reporting what I heard.
I would love to rest assured that Saban won't leave, but with the way everyone's jumping ship suddenly to go somewhere else (see Spurrier with Florida and Franchonie with Alabama) I just can't be sure. Besides, Saban DID leave Michigan State for the LSU job. I just wish I knew what Saban thinks of the whole situation. Even if Saban has NO intention of leaving, it hurts recruiting to have these rumors every year.
These rumors have been floating around for a couple of years and our recruiting was just fine last year, how could it be any better than a #1 class? I would be suprised but not shocked if he left after this year. He'll more likely stay around 2-5 years and then pursue an NFL job. Emmert & Skip would hopefully do a good job of finding a quality replacement. Our days of hiring a "bargain" coach are over (no more Joe Dean) so I don't think it's the end of the world if Saban leaves. P.S. Please don't leave Nick, just trying to make a point.
I've heard somewhere that Mrs. Saban doesn't want to leave until the kids are in high school. Wants them to have a more stable home life -- not always moving around.
ditto that starscream. also heard he has a sweet house and is basically the king of Baton rouge. Why would he want to leave?
on every LSU board it seems like there is apost worrying about what Bryan Cox said. Did I miss something? does he have any credibility to his sources? why would anyone care what he or what he says 2 agents said. at least pick something worthy of worrying about. Cox has no insight into this side of the situation. I just don't understand the worrying response everytime this comes up and from bryan cox?
Bryan Cox and 2 agents won't set up when Saban leaves... Terri Saban will set up when Saban will leave... Did anyone else think that they signed Kordell Stewart to a multi-year deal? Who in the hell will want to take that job with a bum like Stewart as the only viable quarterback in front of a greenhorn, wet behind the ear quarterback like Rex Grossman, whose also going to need to prove that he wasn't just like every other Florida Quarterback...a product of an outstanding college system... They have exactly ONE player worth a rat's @ss on that team, and that's Urlacher...and some scouts say that Urlacher's over-rated at any rate... Trying to date Paris Hilton isn't exactly going to do anything for his performance, either... Chicago...it's this year's Cincinnati...and it will be for the forseeable future...
That statement is just like a quote from the bama fans just before Fran left. Fran is King of Alabama why would he leave? You can have a sweet house just about any where. Saban can be well liked anywhere he goes. When Saban makes decision to leave, I doubt a sweet house in Baton Rouge will have alot to do with it. PS-- Saban will leave one day. When that day comes only Nick Saban knows.
Saban is into player developement. He likes to take kids and make them into men. He builds life long relationships with his former players. He has Ro and Dom over dinner, not on a regular basis, but yet he still does it. The reason he left MSU was because the recruiting was tougher for him there. Over here he is the only powerhouse program in the state and there is tons of talent in LA than in Michigan. There is a reason he left the NFL. If he went to NFL, he would want GM responsibilities and if would have to be his system, that is why he goes through so many assistances, because they want to ad there on wrinkles and Saban ain't havin' that.
