All homer boards have homer posters who make homer posts. What's new? And obviously not everybody wants Saban as a coach, they just want the same results that he is getting so far this season. If Pete Caroll was coaching at Bama with the same results that he has had at USC over the last several years, then we Alabama fans would be every bit as happy.
This is soooooo true! So many gumps I talk to splooge on themselves talking about LSU's imminent demise and how Les is a stooge who has enjoyed coaching with a hand full of aces. Now this year they are yapping about the chinks in our armor and blaming it on the fact Sabans players are almost gone.
Well, Bamafans are a just bit more coach-venerating than most schools. Understandably, they are affected by the overwhelming influence of The Guy In The Houndstooth Hat. Most schools are used to coaches that stay from 3 to 8 years. The steady parade of coaches since Bryant's long tenure bothers many Bamafans more than it does the rest of us. They know they will never get another Bear, but they do very much want another Gene Stallings and Nick is probably their guy. But you can safely ignore the hero-worship, the exaltation, and the adoration from some of the the faithful. It's just their way.
He's referring to several posts on Volnation, several Texas A&M boards and Clemson boards. Obviously you're interested enough to post the thread on another board so you'll be interested enough to use the search function on Tidefans to see what he's talking about. Just for the record the title of his thread doesn't match what he's actually saying in the thread. He's not saying people want Nick Saban per se but rather make a move like Bama did to get a coach like Saban. And to follow up on what he was saying, the overwhelming majority of people from many fanbases DID make fun of us. Laughed and pointed fingers that Saban or any other good coach wouldn't touch Bama with a ten foot pole. The job was no longer desirable and our program was dead in the water. I personally can testify to that and I'm not wasting my time giving you a link. Also- to the poster that said Saban will take us "back" to 9-3 on a regular basis and losing to "UAB's" on a regular basis. I'll take the 9-3 because if we're consistently winning 9 games I know there'll be some 10+ win seasons in there as well. I'll take that any day. I can guarantee you we won't lose to UAB on a regular basis because we don't play them. :thumb: We will never be the Alabama of Bryant's years and the overwhelming majority of Bama fans know this and realize this. But unfortunately it's a lot of rival fans that continue to make themselves believe that ALL bama fans have this type of thinking and it's simply not true. :nope: We're just happy we have a coach that has instilled a system that is far superior than anything we've had since Stallings left and it's showing dividends.
He isnt doing with Sheilas players. He is doing it with freshman, redshirt freshman and sophomores. The gumps have less than 10 senior's. This is a big reason their bubble with burst when we play them.
I count almost 40 players that are Seniors and Juniors. http://www.rolltide.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/alab-m-footbl-mtt.html
Hasn't just about every Bama coach in recent memory had a 10 win season? In fact, it's either have a season around .500 or 10+ win season. Thus far, Saban is holding serve. Well, he should get a ten win season this year and already took care of the .500 type season last year. I understand what you're saying though. I really do hope you guys get those nine win seasons regularly though. Then the ten win seasons would definitely be more likely. Rather than suffering through a .500 season two out of every three years. The more sec teams with quality records, the better. We should know within the next couple of years if Bama will continue more of the same from the past ten years or if it has made that step up to the level LSU is currently at.
Well there's a reason for that particular pattern. Sustained winning takes more than JUST talent or JUST good coaching. It takes both. I think we now have both.
