The whining has begun in Austin

I was checking out Hornfans.com to see what some of the Texas fans had to say about the game on Saturday and I saw a lot of threads complaining about the officiating and such. There's even a whole thread about how it was the "worst officiated game ever", or something to that effect. Based on some of the comments, you'd think their team got mugged by us in an alley or something. For being some of the most arrogant fans around, they sure don't lose gracefully.

Cry me a freaking river......lol :bncry:

You need to continue reading that thread. 50% of it is fans telling other fans to quit whining. Even the officiating was addressed by the following:

"I hate seeing physical matchups down low. I understand the game was called fairly but I hate seeing games in the 50s. I'd much rather see 125-123 games ala Lakers/Celtics"

I expected much worse ala texags but really there is quite a bit of level headed thinking going on there.

Just go read some dook threads... I am sure that when they lost to us it was because the officials didnt hand them the game every chance they got (which happened all season long)! :thumb:

The reason Texas DID NOT get any calls down low is because Aldridge was too intimidated to post up in the paint and attack the basket. Instead he opted to post up and shoot the turnaround fadeaway shot.

It's hard for officials to make calls when they are awestruck by some of the stuff Thomas is doing!

No doubt. One of his blocks, from the A&M game I believe, was so sick that my wife turned to me and asked if what T-Thomas did was legal or not.

Another thing on that particular block that I remember is that immediately when Thomas made that block, the first thing I thought of was that ridiculous
block that Tayshaun Prince had on a Reggie Miller breakaway a couple of years back. (If anyone remembers that one)

It's true some of their fans are telling others to quit whining, but even most of those threads say something about their team being more talented and that they basically lost the game more than we won it. I guess I was fooling myself to expect even a small amount of respect from what is by and large the most arrogant fanbase in all of college sports.

Give 'em a break. I mean, you saw how they cheered after we beat Duke. I mean, they thought that clinched their trip to the Final Four. :hihi: :hihi:

They had some people who melted down but for the most part i thought they were honest about just being beat and got outplayed.

Hell i complain about officiating all the time too. I am just a Purple and Gold glass wearer. What can i say!!!

Being a year younger than my brother and always competing against him i developed a keen eye for his fouls. While commiting very few myself. He has always wondered why i didnt go into officiating because i like calling fouls on others.

Thinking back i realize how good our neighbors were to us. They could have complained to our parents about the bad language and fighting that went along with our neighborhood basketball games.

One of the best things about growing up with a dad as coach was always having keys to the gym and on weekends being able to get some games going up their with all our friends. Playing for hours and hours.
