I think Brady is the greatest QB of all time, I think he gets the edge over Montana. Montana had skill all around him on every team he won on, Brady does every now and then, but he tends to make people a lot better, then when those players leave they do nothing.
Like Brady and the Patriots, Montana's 49ers kept changing. Only 5 players were on the roster for all 4 of Montana's Superbowls - Montana, Rice, Roger Craig, Ronnie Lott and one other I don't remember. Terry Bradshaw's Steelers roster had almost all of the key players for all 4 Superbowls. You can't say that Montana didn't make his teammates better also.
Montana had Rice, Craig, Rathman, Taylor and who was the awesome tight end Brent Jones or something. Those are weapons man. Brady has Gronk he is a weapon, who are the other ones in those Super Bowl winning years? Troy Brown?
Joe Montana was the best,.. the Comeback Kid, in 1977 defeated No. 1 and unbeaten Texas by 38-10 to capture the National Title for Notre Dame,.. the ring on his thumb At the time Montana and the 49ers won four of their Super Bowls, the NFC, with many all time great teams, was clearly superior to the AFC. San Francisco was arguably the best team in the NFL during all of Montana's 14 years there,.. with a lot better luck in the NFC playoffs Montana could have won 10 Super Bowls
I would have loved to see Brees play with the Dome Patrol defense. Then again, Carl Smith/Mora would have probably tried to make him a game manager, like Hebert, instead of opening up that vanilla offense, so maybe not.
