    THE SIXTIES

Congress shall make no law abridging the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
    –First Amendment

Sadly, Woodstock failed to discredit the myth of violent, drug-crazed people. Today, alarmist fictions are propagated by the favored factions with more rabid fervor than ever, but one need only follow the money trail to discover why the vicious War on Fun continues.

    Cui bono?

The unforgettable decade referred to as The Sixties* was a fun-filled reactionary happening that ultimately failed because it had neither a firm philosophical goal nor the strategic focus and solidarity necessary to achieve and defend that goal. The symptoms of the power disease were attacked without isolating the political and financial pathogens responsible for it. Appearing to be protest just for the hell of it, the Youth Rebellion lost its righteous drive when America's Armed Forces departed Vietnam.

In the 60s, many then young Americans stumbled onto their country's libertarian roots, yet somehow they continued to believe in the invulnerability of constitutional American liberty. Consequently, they failed to recognize the significance of their brief awakening. Their failure to convincingly re-secure their unalienable rights left the way clear for encroaching oppression. When the Vietnam involvement ended like a great river simply disappearing into a desert, the dissidents simply quit the field and the statists quickly rushed into the philosophical vacuum. Sadly, some of today's statists are children of the flower children -- flower children, many of whom have become apologist hypocrites and deceivers with age.

For the record, I did not experiment with marijuana, I usedmarijuana every night for nineteen years. I even grew my own for five years. I have no regrets and make no apology for having done so. Nor do I apologize for the recreational use of alcohol, lysergic acid, uppers, and illegally acquired analgesics.

*The decade actually ended in the seventies.
