"Iraq's massive oil reserves, the third-largest in the world, are about to be thrown open for large-scale exploitation by Western oil companies under a controversial law which is expected to come before the Iraqi parliament within days.

The US government has been involved in drawing up the law, a draft of which has been seen by The Independent on Sunday. It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell and Exxon 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude and allow the first large-scale operation of foreign oil interests in the country since the industry was nationalised in 1972."

i dont like the slant of that article. in particular i do not like the use of the word "exploitation".

also keep in mind that even if it were true that it was a war for oil (it absolutely was not), it is better to have these companies maaging the oil than saddam.

also it should be noted that this war oil conspiracy stuff is another chance for conspiracy theorists everywhere to prove that they are the world's most annoying people.

I don't think this was the reason for the war, but since I can't figure out the reason, I guess this has to be a possibility.

And I hope like hell they start drilling and refining with reckless abandon!

It kinda pisses me off that we have to share the oil profits with the natives. There's no sense in doing that.

Ok, so what's your point? Don't pretend that you're not happy you could possibly benefit from cheaper gas prices.

Seriously, Everyone knows the reasons we went to war over there some just
choose to ignore it or pick and choose things to there liking.

WE should be entitled to oil from Iraq when you take into account the American blood and endless dollars that have been spent on the war.

    The reasons just keep changing.

First it was UN sanctions violations that had to be enforced, then it became the threat of Saddamn colluding with Osama, then it became the threat of Iraqi WMD's, Then it became the liberation of the suffering Iraqi people from a tyrannical dictator, then it became to establish democracy in Iraq, then it became to crush the insurgency in Iraq, then it became to establish stability in Iraq, and now it is to get some cheap oil out of Iraq while we can.

I don't think anybody in the administration has any reason or justification or any freakin' clue for what they do in Iraq.

Uhhhh, . . . Sourdough . . . WE started this, WE sent the troops, WE spent the dollars, and WE can stop it or change it at any time.

When I say WE, I speak of your man, George W. Bush.

Maybe its all the reasons above?
Heck, The Democrats want to use our troops for humanitarian reasons and
not the defense of the US at times.
Kinda like your man Clinton and his war on terror?

    Yes we can!:hihi:
I know, I have to give you credit.
You should have been a politician because you have not wavered on your
stance one bit from the beginning but some of the people you voted for have.
Lets not forget that the Democrats are also responsible for this.
No one seems to remember that fact anymore.
Americans seem to have developed a temporary case of Alzheimers.

Have you watched the news lately?
My Man has been more effective at killing terrorists with C 130's than
Your Man ever thought about doing bombing empty buildings.
We attacked Somolia, do you remember what happened there about 13 years
    ago?

    Have a good day Red!

Amazing. A war is created by a Republican President and supported by a Republican Congress and the Democrats are responsible.

I think you are going to be buying me a steak in 2008! :yelwink2:
