Sorry, but this has really been bothering me! I was listening to 98.1 yesterday and a fan asked for them to play the LSU fight song. It really stung when they played Hey Fighting Tigers. Yes that is a great song, but it's not our fight song, nor is Pregame(More commennly known as 'Hold that Tiger'). The fight song is Fight for LSU. The others are just school songs. But for future notice. Fight for LSU is the fight song, it has words to it as well which you can find on lsusports.com. It's the song that we play when the team comes out in the tunnel and for warm ups. And when they leave the field at the end of the game.
Another thing that gets me is when people refer to "Tiger Rag", which was a jazz hit once recorded by Louis Armstrong, as the "Ha ha ha ha ha Asshole Song".
I really like Fight for LSU. The words are great. As for the "asshole" song it is nothing more than the "asshole" song to me. Sorry, Tigerbnd05
One problem with Hey Fighting Tigers is that it is football specific. I don't expect our BB team to "Smash right through the line". Fight For LSU applies to any sport (well anyone that involves winning a game with a higher score). That is why it is the fight song.
Basketball words are as follows: Hey fightin' Tigers Fight all the way Hey fightin' Tigers Win the game today You've got the ball now drive to the hoop Hang on to the ball as you hit the wall and smash an alley-oop You've got to go for a basket run up the score make mike the tiger stand right up and roar The Championship in the SEC and NC double A LSU go all the way.
tigerbnd05- Is the whole band going to be at the Sugar Bowl? What do they do about all of the out-of-state band members who will be home for the break?
Ick! Changing the words to a fight song? That smacks of blasphemy. No thank you, I will stick with Fight For LSU.
Yeah me too. When I was in school at LSU instead of 'asshole', it was 'bullshit, bullshit, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha'. Especially when officiating was bad.
