.......has far less to do with LSU and any of its players than it does with Aubarn and one of its players. As successful as the Aubarn running game has been, Jason Campbell is still the same. Although Capbell did have 3 td passes in this past week's game, he was not spectacular by any means. Against an opponent from the SEC's cellar, he was only 8 for 17 for a paltry 47.1% completion percentage and passed for a grand total of 139 yards. In my opinion Aubarn's chances of success has everything to do with whether or not he can be a consistent and efficient passer against LSU's defense.
LSU and AU are identical on offense this year if you ask me. No doubt our defense is better than theirs. You must stack the box and take your chances with the QB and WR's on each side and may the best team win. Us I hope!
LSU and Auburn are NOT "identical on offense." Auburn does not have a talent like Russell to turn to when their senior QB starts stinking it up. Plus, Auburn have nice receievers while LSU has extremely talented ones. Now, add in the fact that LSU also has the better defense. Well, what conclusion does that leave you?
If I were an Aubarn fan (please, have pity on me for using that hypothetical), I would be very concerned about Campbell's ability to pass on the LSU defense. I would feel he would need to do this in order to have any chance at a successful running game. No way Aubarn does well if LSU is able to key in on stopping the run and Campbell can't pass consistently.
Dont be fooled by the stats for Campbell. I believe he is still the same ole, same ole goofy footed Auburn QB but I watched that game close on saturday and he had about 6 balls delivered directly in the hands of his receivers that were dropped. I dont think Campbell looked all that good even with the dropped balls but the Chickens offense certainly looked a little different. Weird formations, lots of movement, etc. It wont help them but dont count on da chickens being as inept as they were last year.
