all the dirt is coming out finally Here's what we know: She didn't know the countries involved in NAFTA (US, Canada, Mexico) She didn't know Africa was a continent (thought it was a country) and that South Africa was a part of the country instead of a country in the continent. She didn't understand the idea of American "Exceptionalism" - a key component of the Wilsonian doctrine that states America is "exceptional" and has a very special role in the world She refused preparation demanded by the McCain camp before the Couric interview. And of course we all know how that went. That's when the whole thing started to go South between the Palin and McCain people. Within the last week, Palin was close to a breakdown due to the intense pressure. She would reduce her staff to tears with temper tantrums. She was a shopaholic and even bought 20K of clothes for her husband. I am fairly certain her career is going in the same direction as Dan Quayle's after his vice-presidential run.
You may end up being right, but it's a travesty that Biden is allowed to make far worse "mistakes" and he gets away with it every time. The liberal media lets 'em go one at a time.
I find it hard to believe as well. But the guy that is the source of these allegations is Fox News Channel reporter Carl Cameron. So it just comes down to whether you believe him or not... or whether you believe he really alleged that stuff in the first place or not. According to Fox News, Cameron is FOX News Channel’s chief political correspondent -- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,1180,00.html
That stuff sounds worse than my worst suspicions. But I never trusted her. She had never been in the national spotlight, and never had to show what she knew on her own. I'll admit, she can give a good speech. I thought her selection was a testimony to McCain's suspect judgment. He's not consistent. He can make a good judgment, followed by a bad one. The VP pick was critical, and he went "too maverick" on that one.
I always felt that this really wasn't McCain's pick, but one more or less "forced" on him by the RNC in order to maitain a relationship with the base. At the end of the day however, the buck stopped with McCain and he is ultimately responsible. I'm not saying he would have won with or without her, but I believe its clear she was a drag on the ticket. If they had been willing, Mitt Romney or Rudy Giuliani would have been a much better choice, and likely would have been the Republican candidate in 2012 had McCain won.
I think you are right, McCain wanted Liberman or Ridge. I think his campaign managers sprung this pick on him. however, they are dumping on this woman seriously. I believe most of it, but they should taken the time to vet her and get her up to speed. She is the governor of Alaska, she isnt a stupid person by far. They just handle this wrong.
Again, it didn't matter who McCain picked. The election was lost the day the media decided that Bush was an idiot and not worthy of their respect. The timing of the Lehman bankruptcy just played right into the Democrats' hands. Obama was in the right place at the right time. Only he could have lost the election and he's way too smart for that.
Seriously, how could McCain have possibly chosen Lieberman, for instance, for his veep? A man who'd been the Democratic veep candidate (and lost, for that matter)? I think there is a lot of finger-pointing, but this all brings back home to me the fact that I wasn't happy with my choice between either McCain or Obama. Perhaps Obama will have a successful Presidency--or perhaps the Republican party will rediscover itself in the next four years.
