The Only 3 Things That Can Beat the Tigers

Discussion in 'The Tiger's Den' started by TC, Nov 9, 2005.

    (1) Turnovers
    (2) Penalties
    (3) Getting out to a lead and then going conservative in the second half

If the Tigers avoid these three things, they will win comfortably. If they don't avoid these three things, they will lose a close game to the Tide.

I disagree.. we didn't turn it over or play penalty ball against Auburn and damn near lost...

    We need to execute...

Bama is an opportunistic team and LSU gives it up quite often.

LSU is a terribly penalized team, and playing in a hostile environment won't help matters there.

This is JR's first start in a hostile road environment since last year's Florida game...ugh, not a nice memory.

Finally, Darby is ready to rumble and could hang Irons-like #s on the D if Bama gets up on LSU...and I don't know if we can fully depend on Joe Addai to be a 30 carry guy on Saturday, meaning ball control via the run may be a tall order for LSU should *they* get up on Bama early.

It's going to be a really tough game to win, IMO, just looking at the facts on paper.

    I'll add "The Big Play".

We can't let Croyle hit the deep pass, he barely missed 3 vs MSU, and we have to tackle Darby.

And scoring. We have to keep Bama from scoring more than us. In fact, that's my KEY TO THE GAME!!!

Good point cajdav about limiting the big play. Especially in their house, those kinds of plays will fuel their team & make things extra tough on us.

Tackling form will be of the utmost importance. Bama's Oline is much weaker than Auburn's, so I think we'll be able to get to Darby easier than we got to Irons but if we can't tackle again then we'll have the same problem.

Turnovers could become a big factor. If Russell tries to force things, Bama will exploit it & give themselves a nice advantage. This game could come down to Russell playing smart ball.

Our running game is a big, big factor for this game. If Addai is ready to play, he & our Oline can wear down their front 7 through the first 3 quarters, and with their lack of depth, we'll have a big advantage by the 4th quarter.

I believe going conservative might be a good thing. Bama will try & force JaMarcus into stupid mistakes & if he isn't having his best game, it might be best to keep this a low scoring contest to avoid giving them the ball.

As Clair mentioned, execution truley is the one key to this game. If this team executes the way they are capable of then penalties & throwing interceptions won't happen & no team can stop us. Of course, you'd be stupid to predict perfect execution - it's all about degrees. And the question is, can we execute well enough to win this game? I believe we can.

    It ain't just three:

    (4) Dropped passes
    (5) Missed field goals
    (6) Poor clock management
    (7) Bad luck
    (8) Poor officiating
    (9) Key injuries
    (10) Incompletions
    (12) 3rd down conversions

You could go on and on. The winner of this game will be the one that puts together the best complete game.

Good luck would also be nice.

The Blitz is the key to the game. Can Bama's line stop our relentless blitz? Can JR make quick enough reads and good decisions against the Bama Blitz......

You guys hit the nail on the head. Your team, when clicking on all cylinders, is awesome. From what I have seen, you are not always running wide open. Now, your big threat from us is:

    1) Darby. He is gooood.
    2) Croyle's deep pass.. he'll try at least 4 times, and making even one could shift the flow of the game solidly in Bama's favor.
