I may be wrong i hope I am, but to me its pretty darn obvious by the words from Skip and the way Saban, the players and Miami is talking its all but academic now.. Saban is leaving us, Dont flame me just my guy feeling having read all I can about it... With that said I can ONLY hope Saban has told skip this and skip is calling coaches right now to replace him..... IE Butch Davis...
I just hope we can salvage some of the good recruits if and when NS does leave. Otherwise we will lose 1 good class of kids.
Sad news is Sourdough having read several things from Recruits on Rivals IF Saban leaves we will lose several of our top players, the TE from Texas, Keys, the OL from California all pretty much said if Saban leaves they will decommit, cannot blame them. The only kids we can save are kids who want to come to LSU because they are from around here and grew up with that dream, the rest for the most part wanted to play for Nick Saban and the LSU machine. Not saying LSU wont be a machine again, but those kids have offers from Machines with coaches who dont interview each year with the NFL (OU for example) so they will go there, at least thats the jest I get but I could be wrong.
Bah.... Dan Marino is going to accept a real front office position with the dolphins and his friend Jim Fassel will be hired as their next coach. Edit: Unless they decide to hire Token.
Huzienga: Hey Art it's Wayne Art Shell: Hello Huizenge: I was wondering if you'd like to down to Miami for an inter(click!)view....Hello?? Art???? Helllooooo.... Seriously how could anyone think that forcing teams to interview a minority help anything? I'd be real pissed off if I knew they were just flying me down there to blow smoke up my ass. I can not believe anyone would actually go down there for that interview.
What we need to do to save face is to stick to our guns. I.E. hold firm the stance that "in order for our recruiting to not suffer, we want to know a definative answer in a maximum of 7-10 days." Period. End of statement. If at the end of that time frame, and still nothing is resolved, then it's even more evident that Saban wants the Miami job, and by that time, in the best interests of our program, should ask that he either honor his contract with us, or walk away so that we at least could move forward. I really don't think it'll come to that, but we need to stand firm. I think Saban has the utmost respect for LSU and vice versa, which is why I don't think he'll ever go beyond the 7-10 days that he's already mentioned. IMO, I would like to also add that a week's time is a pretty good compromise. Who knows? If the Dolphins and others educated in this whole ordeal are calling it (the process of interviewing minority candidates, etc.) a "tapping of the break peddle" and a "hitting the pause button", knowing that it might take longer, then perhaps Saban might use that to his advantage. After the 7-10 days are up, or drawing to a close, he can always say, citing his present contract with LSU, "Look. I appreciate everything but since this isn't moving fast enough, and I have responsibilities remaining at LSU, I'll have to decline the offer and remain with the Tigers." (which would be my dream-come-true Saban-stated comment) That way, Nick keeps his reputation in tact and doesn't come off as the bad guy to either side. All I know is that from now until "LSU D-Day", there will probably be countless fictional, opinionated stories, posts and analysis, like the one I've just written, surface and find their way to this forum. I can honestly say I'm not looking forward to seeing all of it (I would MUCH rather talk about happy-happy-joy-joy LSU things), but in our situation, what other choice have we all got?? :geaux: ldskule: :lsug: :tigerhead  :geaux:
