from pro football weekly (dated today, obviously not): DEL RIO TO LSU? An industry source in Louisiana tells us that there are rumblings that Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio could be a top candidate for the looming vacancy at Louisiana State, if/when coach Nick Saban bolts for the Dolphins. Del Rio spent two years on the Saints' coaching staff before getting hired by the Ravens, and his daughter attended LSU. Before Del Rio or anyone else can be officially considered, however, Saban would have to leave. There's thinking as of Tuesday evening that there's a 50-50 chance that Saban will stay put, and that the Christmas party he's hosting on Tuesday night could prompt him to decide to stick around. The controversy involving assistant coach Derek Dooley also could be a factor in Saban's decision to leave the relative cocoon of Baton Rouge for the NFL, where every word and deed is scrutinized.
BTW, "the Jack Del Rio Show" is on the air at 5pm central time (or, about 25 minutes from time I submit this post). Simulcast of the showl is available through the team website: http://www.jaguars.com/ Could have easily flown out last night after film sessions and arrived back in time for this show (today's an off-day for the players). PS-The phone number is 1-800-355-NFL1 (6351)
As soon as they talk about it, I'll let you know. It is not posted on their website yet, but the news station's web address is: firstcoastnews.com
