Obviously, this is a flip-flop situation as earlier, LSU was about to finalize plans to move the game to atlanta. But I talked to someone a moment ago and due to a significant southward shift in the NHC track and computer model compliance, LSU is now "80 percent confident" the game will be played in BR. Granted, we can wake up tomorrow and have the models shifted back toward LA and have that all changed. But if they stay like this: then the game will be in BR. I will keep you all updated.
it seems to me atlanta is the worst place to play fan wise. i cant imagine very many people being able to go. at least in tex a lot of north louisiana people would be there, and the n tex fans could go. i am torn. i really want this game to be held in br even if i cant be there. but from the way it sounds, br is not ready to handle it. hopefully by saturday conditions will be much better.
Atlanta is the worst for fans. hands-down. But I mean, it would be poor taste on LSU's part to show up on Dallas' doorstep while Dallas and Houston were on the mend themselves should the storm go their direction (it looks like it will). Baton Rouge is torn up. But not any less so than it was for the Monday game against Tennessee after Rita and that game was still packed. "If you play it, they will come."
I hope you are right about the game being played in TS and I know you are on the ground there but unless everything I'm hearing is completely wrong, BR is in way worse condition than it was after Rita and the comparison isn't even close.
no, I agree. Baton Rouge is torn up. I just meant that the eggs were still freshly scrambled after rita in that it was 3-4 days after the storm. Here, we will be 12 days after the storm. It's like I said, if you play it, they will come. The campus held up OK and I see it working logistically.
That's not to mention that traffic around here is every bit as bad right now as it was after Katrina, and the city doesn't even have tens of thousands of extra people. It's chaos. I'd take post-Rita conditions over this any day of the week.
I love how it is implied that all 93,000 fans are from Baton Rouge. Yes, Baton Rouge sustained far more damage this time around. But we will be 2 weeks removed. At what point is normalcy restored? The rest of the state is ready. I think the campus is ready. I think the game will be a go. Just one man's opinion. The people I talk to in the AD's office right now agree. I guess we will see how it plays out. I am not making the decision, they are.
I guess Gustav could be more comparable to Andrew. Both hit near Morgan city, only Andrew turned up towards Baton Rouge, while Gustav went NorthWest. Andrew hit on August 26th and LSU played a game on Sept 5th. 10 day recovery from a pretty bad storm.
