I partially disagree. LSU has used the 2 quarterback system successfully for some time. To say Lee wasn't available unless JJ got hurt, was a mistake, and it hurt the team.
Those are some fairly telling and honest player quotes. When even the players think JL is getting a raw deal and should have played that says a lot.
We need to get Les to run the CIA if he can keep secrets this big for so long that not even his players know what's going on.
If Lee was in the doghouse, why would that preclude all backups from seeing action. If he wasn't going to put Lee in, he could have taken a shot with Mett to see if he could spark something. This was the game to lay it all on the line, to play who you needed to play, to pull out all the stops for victory. Why the blind loyalty to JJ over any and all backups. Were they all in the doghouse?
It was so top secret it seems that even Lee knew nothing about it. Makes me wonder how even the average insider would have that information.
If Lee is a party to it, then he's not about to spill the beans to the sports media. And I think the other players were genuinely surprised, because if they had all known, the door on this issue would've been blown wide open by now. This is the same staff that kept Krags' Parkinson's diagnosis secret for many weeks before a public announcement, and there was never a peep about that from anyone prior to that.
I'm saying if there is indeed some issue at play here like bhelm suggets, Lee knew he wasn't going in unless Jefferson got hurt. But the other players probably genuinely felt he would see playing time. Assuming this deep dark secret is true, Les was probably operating on a need-to-know basis.
I don't know what he is doing but I know what he does NOT do. What he does NOT do is assess analyze and solve football problems before such problems cause serious damage. LES MILES IS STRICTLY A "READ AND REACT" COACH. HE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO INITIATIVE.
