On ESPN radio's the Herd this morning, the host had on the OK State Football beat writer that covered Okie State before and during Miles regime. He said that the program was a sinking ship with no talent, no direction, and no expectations. He said that by the second year, things were completely different. He lauded Miles saying that he is one of the top coaches around and they knew they were only going to have him for a few years. He said that the overall fan base understands and knew it was a deal too good to pass up. He said that he feels Miles will be very successful at LSU. I thought this was a good endorsement from someone who saw first hand what Miles can do. He did not appear to be bitter or disappointed in Miles's performance over the years and wished him luck.
I talked to my brother-in-law Sunday night who's an OSU grad and lives in Stillwater. He was extremely impressed with Miles during his stay at OSU and said a lot of the positive things that have been mentioned here. He said he's passionate about being a college coach, has high personal standards (character, integrity, etc), and communicates extremely well with his coaches and players. He laughed and said occasionally some "strange words and phrases" come out of his mouth. I told him we had listened to "Saban speak" for five years and wouldn't have much trouble adapting  Bottom line, he thinks Les will be a perfect fit for us.
With Eddie Sutton at OSU, and the majority of their fans more interested in basketball, I wouldn't imagine that they would be upset. Miles gave them a taste of what it's like to be a competitive team in a BCS conference--something that the Cowboy faithful hadn't tasted in ages if ever. Excellent info, slider41. :thumb:
I am very thankful that people are finally starting to realize why Miles record was what it was..... Thank You
