The Iowa fans have conducted themselves with class, for the most part, on this forum. I'm starting to like the Iowa Hawkeyes, when they don't play us... too bad we're gonna whip their asses New Year's Day... Got It?
Agreed, a little overly optimistic maybe, but all in all they have conducted themselves well and I think they should be treated with the same respect. Now, if we can just keep ramah away from them....
Iowans are genuinely warm people... I just posted a similar message on their website...I think they have tried to be sensitive to our current situation with the Saban to Miami saga. Many other college fans would have showed a lot less class. :thumb: I went to junior high in Iowa and know firsthand that they are unpretentious, no-nonsense and gracious people. Hopefully, our fans will treat them kindly...
Very much so, I am sure they wanted to just talk football and all we have talking about is Saban......... And compared with the Miami fans here they look like the nicest people on the face of the earth...
Yes, they have been nice, though they've been largely ignored the past week and a half or so. I've not met any Iowa fans personally, but I have met plenty of Nebraska fans. If the politeness, consideration and good-spiritedness exhibited by all those Husker fans I met when I went to Lincoln for a game years ago is any indication of how midwesterners are generally, then I'm sure Iowa fans are downright friendly. Here's to a good, clean, hard-fought Hawkeye loss on New Year's Day! :thumb:
Kudo's to our Hawkeye guests! I agree. Of the teams we've faced the last several years, the Hawkeye visitors have been most civil and interested in legitimate "football talk". I think we have not responded as well as we could have. This is because most of us Tiger fans are OBSESSED with the outcome of the Dolfin's effort to hire away our coach. Sorry Hawkeyes, in other years, we would have talked up a storm about the game! We're just pre-occupied. I don't know what to expect for the game. Our players have been distracted, but coach Saban wants to compete in every game he goes into, so I'm sure he talks to the players about focusing on the game, not his situation, which the players can't control anyhow. I expect the Tigers to show up and compete. If coach Saban is leaving, it could go either way, but I expect the players would like to reward coach for the leadership and lessons he has taught, so my guess is they play harder if he announces his departure. If he announces he's staying, he has a week to get them focused, and he has shown himself to be adept at that. Only in an unforseen fluke will the Tigers be unmotivated or distracted. (I do think last year, Mike Stoops departure as defensive coordinator at Oklahoma cost them dearly in their last two games). There are a few hotheads on this board, as in every fan base. I think in general you've gotten a good reception here. My opinion, if we get good execution by our QB, LSU will win by a smidge. Our running game is sound and so is our entire defense. We have good receivers and if the QB's hit them that day, we can play with anyone. Good luck, and the best team will win on New Years Day!
They've been classy, I think maybe their bowl spirit has been zapped a little bit by this whole situation like ours has. I'm sure it will build the closer it gets to the game, and also once this situation is resolved (unless of course Ferentz is named Saban's replacement if he leaves heh).
Trust me when I tell you we have some hawkeye fans on our forum that you (and us) don't want coming on your forum. But, for the most part, we're O.K. My guess is we'll bring about 35,000 fans to Orlando, maybe more. Hawks travel well.
Here you go...from most to least busy. Merry Christmas to everyone. Looking forward to some good game discussion when all of this Saban crap is put to rest. Best of luck in keeping him! http://iowa.rivals.com/forum.asp?sid=940&fid=804&style=2 http://mb2.scout.com/fiowafansfrm2 http://p078.ezboard.com/fthehawkeyehotspothawkeyefootball
