Oh how lovely ... Here are a couple of perspectives. Talk amongst yourselves. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/01/lsu_considering_former_saints.html http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/09/report-ron-zook-on-lsus-dc-radar/
Don't remember D at the Saints very well. Just remember Jeff Blake and the evil Aaron Brooks during that time. Evil Aaron Brooks made you think he was a good QB and then he didn't care enough to become the man.
Saints had a bad-ass front four under Zook with LaRoi Glover, Norman Hand, Joe Johnson and Darren Howard. Sammy Knight leading the secondary.
That's not how I remember his time at UF. Zook was DC under Spurrier, but Spurrier demoted him to special teams coach and brought in Bob Pruett, then brought in Bob Stoops. His experience at Florida undoubtedly had a bearing on Foley hiring him as HC. His work at DC? If that was the case, why was he demoted? Spurrier held on to him for his recruiting success, no doubt. But, there wasn't a lot of "good will" from the Ol' Ball Coach when it came to the defense and how Zook was calling their schemes/games.
