Now even Bush's puppet leaders in Iraq are telling their citizens that the insurgents have a legitimate right to be shooting at our troops.

The whole idea is that we're supposed to be providing security FOR them; that we're acting on THEIR behalf, as their surrogates, not their occupiers. But now we get THIS:

The communique finalized by Shiite, Kurdish and Sunni leaders Monday condemned terrorism but was a clear acknowledgment of the Sunni position that insurgents should not be labeled as terrorists if their operations do not target innocent civilians or institutions designed to provide for the welfare of Iraqi citizens.

And yet, people on this board along with Bush's supporters everywhere want us to keep sending our sons, daughters, nephews, and nieces to be shot at.

Bush's supporters dare claim that his critics are diminishing the morale of our troops. How much morale do our dead 2100 soldiers possess? How would those lost Americans feel knowing that Iraq's LEADERS whom they helped to install say the insurgents had a legitimate right to kill them?

"Support our troops!" Bush's minions scream outwardly. But what they're really saying inwardly is "Support George Bush's face by keeping our troops in harm's way."

Rex: In june of next year, I think we are headed over there to start helping to get our guys out of there.

If you start hearing about the US troops starting to get mobilized to start getting out by next summer, you heard it here first.

Let me make it simple for you.

Iraqi leaders say opposition forces have a "legitimate right" to kill American soldiers. According to the leaders our soldiers helped install, attacks on Americans are not acts of terrorism.

Today, 3 more Americans were bombed and shot, bringing to 2100 the number of American soldiers who have died because Iraqi insurgents were exercising their "legitimate rights."

2100 American soldiers have not been killed by terrorists, but by people with "legitimate rights." We are not fighting terrorists in Iraq. Alert their families. See what they think about that.

Why are we even there? To put men in power who say it's their legitimate right to kill the soldiers who are there to help them?

That is the Sunni position, not that of the Kurds and Shiites. The Sunnis are the biggest obstacle to their efforts to establish a legitimate government there. The "communique" did not say that it's OK to kill Americans. That was the spin by the writer of the article.

I have no doubt about that. The American public has finally seen the light. We are not making progress there, Bush is totally incompetent to change that, and our soldiers are getting needlessly killed.

This unpopular occupation will be over for the most part in time for next year's elections. At that time, the Republicans will paint a success spin that didn't really happen, but I'll settle for that as long as we're mostly out. I have a second nephew about to be shipped over there. And I sincerely hope you make it out safely, too.
