Ok, could someone tell me what good the filibuster has ever done this country, it seems like much to do about nothing!

Just great, our government can't even function right now.
Might as well shut down the government for awhile.

I don't like it nor do I understand why it would ever be useful other than
to bring the country to a halt when it comes to legislation.
I've heard a Democracy only lasts for 200 years and I'm starting to believe it.
I don't know where I've heard it but I have.

Are all of our "elected" officials serving their constituents well by this process?
It doesn't matter which side of the issue you are on, I don't see how this process is useful for this country.

    Pretty funny,
Out of all the threads I've done Mystikalilusion gave me a little red dot because of this
    thread!
I think Mystikalilusion must have it out for me since I got him or her on the James Dobson thread.
I don't care about a little red because I expect Libs to act the way they do and I want
the whole word to know it! :hihi:

Sorry, you should study the facts beforehand. :hihi:

Uh, negative. Believe me, I will be the first to step up and admit i've given you at least one red dot, but it wasn't recently and it surely wasn't a thread beginning post on a topic I had already "won" the debate on the day prior.

I think the filibuster is stupid and the only time I can really think about it being used is during the civil rights era, but that is just off the top of my head don't quote me or anything. However, the government shutting down isn't a bad thing it means they can't pass useless laws or spend anymore of our money.

Just goes to show how politicians, on both sides of the aisle, will change their position to fit their political agenda.

Republicans had no problems with the filibuster rule when they were doing it during the Clinton years, and the Dems whined and complained about it. Now it's the complete opposite.

No wonder why they can't get anything done in Washington...

Just for the Record I will state that I am against the Flilibuster no matter who
is in or out of office.
I think that maybe some can detect that in my first post above.
It doesn't do the country a bit of good, all it does is prevent anything from getting accomplished.

If we went to work or ran our jobs like the government is run we would all
be unemployed, Our businesses and finances would sink like the Titanic.
