I'm rooting for LSU all the way, but there are some sound rational reason's why ABC and the National Media based on the East Coast is pushing for a split national championship.

It's called tv ratings. The SEC is on CBS, and the Big 12 is on ABC, but the big ten states have the most tv sets in the nation and California is the biggest state in the country and Los Angeles is second to New York in market size.

In the tv ratings game during the regular season, ABC with the big ten and Pac Ten routinely beats the CBS SEC package in major markers like, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, SF, Phila., Detroit, Minn, Cleveland, San Diego, and so on. With Florida split up between the SEC and ACC the big ten pac ten package represents the richest and best package for regular season college football. Throw in the Big East, ACC, and Big 12, ABC creams CBS nationally for college football. Ever wonder why ESPN and ESPN 2 have big ten games on saturday afternoons and often two times on ABC with a Pac Ten game always shown on the west coast--it's about tv. There really is no plot to diss LSU, to discredit LSU and the SEC, but LA and OK combined are smaller than Ohio and Michigan and Illinois, and Penn alone. The ESPN saturday night prime time game gets beats by reruns of cops on Fox. Saturday night is the least watched tv night of the week also.

The big ten and pac ten like to work together as a package deal with tv. They were never part of the old CFA which used to negotiate tv contracts for the SEC, ACC, Big 12, Big East and so on. CBS let the Big East go to ABC, since the Big East wasn't getting the ratings.

Even if CBS gets the SEC, ACC, Big East, and Big 12, ABC will still do better in the major markets of the US with the big ten and pac ten. In the pre-bcs days the Rose Bowl got the highest ratings in most years. The rose bowl hasn't been too happy with the BCS and the big ten and pac ten can always go their own ways with the rose bowl in a tv deal so it makes sense for ABC to promote the Pac Ten, the big ten, and the rose bowl in case the landscape of tv changes again.

But, let me repeat there is no plot against LSU or the SEC, it goes back to tv ratings, the rose bowl, and the money.

The big ten and pac ten are about the same as far as on the
    field also.
