Just for those that might want an interesting perspective on things... A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and was for distribution of all wealth. She felt deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican which she expressed openly. One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to higher taxes on the rich & more welfare programs. In the middle of her heart-felt diatribe based upon the lectures she had from her far left professors at her school, he stopped her and asked her point blank, how she was doing in school. She answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain. That she had to study all the time, never had time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of spending all her time studying. That she was taking a more difficult curriculum. Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Mary?" She replied, "Mary is barely getting by", she continued, "all she has is barely a 2.0 GPA" adding, "and all she takes are easy classes and she never studies." But to explain further she continued emotionally, "But Mary is so very popular on campus, college for her is a blast, she goes to all the parties all the time and very often doesn't even show up for classes because she is too hung over." Her father then asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your 4.0 GPA and give it to her friend who only has a 2.0?" He continued, "That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair equal distribution of GPA." The daughter, visibly shocked by the father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for mine, I did without and Mary has done little or nothing, she played while I worked real hard!" The father slowly smiled and said, ...... "Welcome to the Republican Party."
Cute- now how do you explain cash subsidies, no-bid/audit/risk contracts to benefactors, special tax breaks to the non-needy, the totally of which DWARFS welfare to the POOR? If you guys were consistent on this it would be one thing. But a republican is nothing if not a walking double standard (blowjobs are impeachable for dems- laudable conduct for right-wingers; non-service dems are traitors- they are war heroes if repub; all drug offenders, particularly black ones, belong in the pen doing hard time-unless the junkie is a right-wing mouthpiece on the radio, with a needle hanging out of his arm).
Democrats have cornered the market on broad sweeping statements. a little quiz for the DNC chump 1. name one Republican Pres. that is known for "blow jobs that are laudable conduct in the white house. yeah even a right winger? 2. name a Rep. that has named a non service democrat a traitor? Please provide links of CREDIBLE references. 3. Name a REP. decorated War hero that did not serve in ANY military capacity. Again provide CREDIBLE sources. 4. Name a Rep. in office that has issued a statement concerning "Black" drug offenders and prison terms. Finally, 5. The right wing mouthpiece you speak of is NOT a major political issue and IS not running for any Gov. office that I am aware of BUT THE DNC does have a SENATOR that is a MURDERER in office. SEE HISTORY and TED KENNEDY. I would expect RUSH to be tried by a jury of his peers and if he is guilty then he should pay what society has determined his penalty to be. Just because you are Democrat or Republican doesn't mean you should esacpe Justice. SENATOR KENNEDY! OWNED A$$HOLE
The conveniently libertarian Republican's don't explain the giveaways to corporations. Maybe they still hide behind the *it creates jobs* mantra, but reality is shooting down that myth. On your other issues, I'm not sure a member of the legislature can be impeached, can they? I thought that was just for the executive branch and judiciary branch. I know that what just a spin you were putting on Clinton's indiscretions, but since you brought up the word impeachment, I wasn't sure Hyde & the Gang could Constitutionally be impeached? And I agree with you the *did you serve, did you not serve* is providing all sorts of hypocrisy for both camps. The Democrats cried over and over during Clinton's campaigns that serving in Vietnam was much ado about nothing, now its Kerry the Vietnam War Hero hour and we must investigate Bush's Vietnam period in detail. Meanwhile the Republicans held up Bush, Sr. and Dole's military record as compared to Clinton's, but squeam when the comparison is made to Bush, Jr. and Kerry. Makes for a bunch of hypocrisy as far as I'm concerned. As far as Rush Limbaugh's drug problems, I'm not sure why you injected race into that issue. We have a serious problem with incarceration of black men in this country that extends beyond the trials and incarcerations to what happens with these men when they are released. To try to make a crack at Limbaugh's addiction in racial terms, sort of makes short shrift of a much more expansive and serious problem than using it strictly to make an anti-Rush Limbaugh comment.
