The Daily Spiritual Thought from Rev. Dandy Don

"I believe that at this time LSU is playing with more confidence than Florida. If LSU can jump out to an early lead, the Gators' confidence will continue to diminish. In my opinion, the first possession of the first half is going to be very important for both teams in establishing domination and field position. LSU coach Les Miles and Florida coach Urban Meyers both like to kick to the opposing teams to start games. I have mixed feelings about starting games on defense, because smart offensive-minded coaches usually have something up their sleeve that opponents have not seen. However, I like the way this LSU team has played on defense the last two games and I believe they will be ready for anything new that Florida has to throw at them."

I like the idea of getting the ball first and put points on the board. Florida is coming into this game with little confidence and we can capitalize on their combination of lack of confidence and lack of depth. This is obviously a statement game for Miles and think we can come out swinging and put 14 on the board quick as well as playing smart defense, I think we will hand st. a*shole his 2nd sec lost.

You gotta love Dandy "Homer" Don Long. Cut him open and you'll see he really does bleed purple. And that's not a knock on Dandy. I have been sending him a few bucks for years. But you gotta love those purple horned rims he wears.

At home with our crowd and the way the D-Line has been playing, I prefer going on D first, and getting the ball out of halftime with adjustments made. If the coaches make good adjustments, it allows you to come out and take some steam out of your opponent, like we did last week against Vandy (on the road, obviously, but it worked). Teams with explosive offenses (ala USuCk), they should always take the ball first.

Good points!! We went on defense first in 97 and that obviously worked for us. But I just feel if we can get the ball first, run/pass it down their egotistical throats against their weak ass defense, I think we could take the air out of their sails early

Agreed. But I would like to see us get a touchback, 3 and out, and start out with the ball at mid-field, before running/passing it down their egotistical throats against their weak ass defense, so we could take the air out of their sails early. :)

Well, the Saints put the first 3 points on the board on Sunday against a "down" Packers team. We know how that one turned out.

I would rather go on D first in this game. Florida's lack of confidence is mainly on the offensive side of the ball, so I think we should put them out there and put pressure on them to do well early. If we can stop them and possibly force them to go 3 and out, that would but a big dent in an already ragged offense.

i dont think it really matters. if they are really as down as people seem to think then a defensive shutdown as much as an offensive score would take the wind out of their sails. i say we just put the two together and not only take the wind out but put holes in their sails.
