The Candidate (Coaching List to Replace O)

I suspect the coaching part has been heavily aided by others.

 

@shane0911 are you hearing anything from the sooner fans about Riley? OU poster on TD recently said he is hearing Riley to LSU is a done deal. Another LSU fan with contacts said the job has always been Riley’s to turn down, but nothing can really be done right now, so we’re just waiting.

 

I haven't, all that I saw was a report about a flight from Norman to BR however Riley was on the practice field with the team at the time of that flight "allegedly". I can tell you that I have a lot of friends that are sooner fans and they ALL know that I am 100% LSU. If this was flying around my phone would be blowing up and I'd have to take the Tiger Eye off of my back windshield. I've not heard anything other than on this site here. I'll let you guys know if it heats up.

 

Maybe his wife is interviewing, a la Miss Terry.

In years past, has there ever been other rumors of Riley considering other positions? The me his situation seems much different than Jimbo at FlaSt in that I've never heard any negativity about Riley. I'm just wondering if there is any reason for his name to be on the list other than he's successful at a big time football school and we can make a strong ass offer.

That’s it. We may literally double his salary in our offer. LSU also offers a higher ceiling because we are virtually the easiest school to recruit for based on the in state and adjacent talent levels.

 

Are we saying Riley is in play? If so I am good with that. Riley, Aranda then Napier for me at this point.

 

There was a lot of smoke around him leaving to coach the Cowboys a few years ago but the quickly died out. I'm not sure if that was because Jones never officially offered him the job or not. I know folks here were nervous for a bit but Riley quickly put out a statement saying he was not interested in the NFL.

Other than that I haven't heard his name at any other place because until now I don't think there has been a job that was better than where he currently is. OU is deep in tradition and having great teams. A shit ton of Heisman winners and I think 6 or 7 nattys. My bias says LSU is the better job but with OU moving to the SEC I'm finding it hard to believe he will be ours. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
