Heard an interesting theory last night, that Trace Armstrong, who is both Kelly and Riley's agent, leaked the Riley-to-LSU rumor both to divert attention from USC's overtures to Riley, and LSU's interest in Kelly. In fact, the theory goes, LSU was never looking at Riley, it was Fisher, then Kelly all along. Jamie Howard lent some credence to this when he said on Jordy Culotta's show that Kelly told him he was contacted by LSU 6 weeks ago.
Heard this same thing, and I absolutely believe it. I think Kelly may have said “not interested” back in October, which may have led Woodward to explore other options, possibly including Riley, but in the end, he wanted Kelly and made the final push.
