1. Napier is the coach who could build something big. Maybe. Kelly is a proven winner trying to get to the next level because he cannot do it at Notre Dame. I believe LSU needed to make a bold move to stay ELITE now. I will hope this hire works out. I did not want to go back to the 90s. I think we will be ok. It’s just a question of how far Kelly can take us in our league.

  2. Exactly what I was thinking.
  3. I just found out about 15 minutes ago. Still trying to take this hire in.

  4. I know a 60 year old airline pilot that also still flies the A-10, just last month logged his 7000th hour in the airplane, the most hours EVER in that jet. Includes something like 6 combat deployments. Some men are better than others.
    YMMV.

  5. If I am not mistaken, ND does not have to make Kelly's salary public, since it is a private institution. I think they just report whatever they want to. An article in the Athletic earlier tonight had him reportedly making in the 7-8 million a year range.

  6. Why do I get this Les Miles reboot feeling about this hire?
  7. Agreed.

We may end up regretting not getting Napier. We may end up regretting not getting Aranda

I just don’t think Woodward was going to fire a national championship coach and take that risk on a young unproven up and comer. The melt would have been at worse had he hired one of them and they failed.

For what it’s worth, national outlook on this hire is that Woodward hit a homerun.
  8. Heard. But he is 10 years younger than Nick!
  9. Private institution doesn’t have to disclose salaries. No way that’s all he was making.
  10. I'm pretty sure Kelly can properly manage a clock.
