I will have to take back what I said about Samuel being the next head coach at Nebraska. Apparently, New Mexico State is again stinking it up this year.

I think Limbaugh was correct in some of what he said.

Reality Check: The day has long past when NFL coaches care one iota whether a QB is white or black. They play the best QB they can to win games to keep their own jobs.

What we are seeing here in Rush Limbaugh's remarks, and people still defending them, is that many white fans resent the number of black QBs playing and starting in the NFL today.

So they are striking back by claiming that they are playing, and getting publicity because they are black. It is the same old worn out argument that white guys can't get a fair deal today because society has slanted everything toward minorities.

They are just a bunch of losers who want to blame their troubles on others.

That is the crowd Limbaugh was whoring to when he made his calculated remarks. They were incorrect, ignorant, and probably racist.

The fact is that the media in Philadelphia had criticized McNabb heartily over his performance this season. But that would not fit in with Limbaugh's agenda, so he ignores it and claims the opposite is true.

If a white owner would not even think about hiring a black coach and therefore not schedule any interviews with black prospects, that is fine and dandy with you, isn't it?

Well said JD, Charlie Batch was never hyped about anything. Like you said he was a surprise pick by a lousy franchise that does a very bad job of evaluating talent.

The reason they think Batch was "hyped" is most likely they would rather see white QBs playing on Sunday.

That is what this is about anyway. Limbaugh knows there are a huge group of white guys out there that resent black QBs starting in the NFL, and he planned his remarks to become their new champion to get more radio listeners.

That is all this amounts to.

Don't bet on it Bengal B. Limbaugh has hired Roy Black the perfect example of a liberal defense attorney who will pull any legal string, and use any techicality to get his guilty-as-hell clients off the hook and out of jail.

And a high priced attorney for a rich black celebrety accused of the same thing as Rush wouldn't use the same tactics to get his client off? Gimme a break. Access to quality legal representation is not based on race, its based on what the client can afford to pay for. Is Kobe's lawyer any less willing to use every trick in the book than Rush's lawyer. Was O.J.s legal dream team not as good as a wealthy white former NFL superstar and actor would have gotten? Your response proves my point.

Before what? When Al Davis hired Art Shell as coach of the Raiders there was no NFL rule requiring owners to interview black candidates. The rule was not in effect when the Vikings hired Dennis Green, when the Tampa Bay Bucs hired Tony Dungy or when the Philadelphia Eagles hire Ray Rhoades. I don't know whether it was in effect at the time that the Jets hired Herman Edwards but even if it had been and the Jets were set on hiring someone else they could have gone though the motions of interviewing Edwards.

Its fine and dandy with me for an NFL owner to hire whoever he wants to hire as long as the owner of the team I pull for hires a guy who can win whether he is black, white, green or orange. I don't know these team owners personally and I'm sure there are still a few that might be predjudiced against ever hiring a black head coach. There is not an owner in the NFL who wouldn't have jumped at the chance to hire Bill Parcells if they had a coaching vacancy. If you were a black former NFL head coach or a highly qualified up and coming hotshot coordinator would you be flattered or insulted at being interview for the Cowboys job when you knew that the only reason you were being interviewed was because you are black? Like I said before if a team looking for a coach dosen't have their man already picked out who they are sure that will accept the job and are legitimately conducting a search for the best available candidate they will have real and meaningful interviews with everyone on their list of prospects both black and white. For black coaches to be brought in for interviews for the Cowboys and the Lions jobs when the organizations had already signed sealed and delivered their next coaches is demeaning and insulting to the black coaches brought in only because of their skin color. Were any white coaches who were not going to get the job brought in for interviews?

I'm shocked! Did they even bother to interview qualified black or white coaches like Byron Scott or Phil Jackson? Was Dale Brown on their short list of prospective candidates?

But I suppose that was just fine and dandy with CottonBowl'66
