I haven't seen the most recent standings but can anyone explain why Ohio State was ahead of Miami? They should have lost to Cincinnati (Cincinnati??!!)) and beat Purdue on a 4th down late in the game. Not to mention yesterday's near loss to a mediocre Illini team. Miami has won 31 straight and are the defending Nat. Champs for goodness sake. Makes no sense to me.
That one is pretty hard to figgure. Miami is #1 in both the AP and the Coaches Poll. The difference in Strength of Schedule, OSU at 22 and Miami at 40 seems to be the major difference. At this point I kind of hope they do play and Miami shows the Buckeyes who's boss. Lots of fans are still yelling for a playoff. Before the BCS we all yelled about Media Bias. Now we look at the rankings and say the computers are off. The BCS has oddly enough taken care of itself and put the 2 top teams together, but if Ohio State gets thumped by Michigan next week what then. Does Washington get the bid or does Oklahoma get back in or what about Notre Damn with their #5 strength of schedule sneaking back in? the Bowl system is all about putting fans in the seats and I don't think any team has fans that could travel for a 32 or 16 team playoff. I have seen this topic on boards for a few years now and most seem to agree to a top 8 and some the top 4 teams playing a playoff. Reguardless where you draw the line the next couple of teams that get left out will still complain. The season is the playoff and I guess we will just have to live with what we have till something better comes along.
Corso did a comparison on Ganeday between last year's BCS calculations and ths year's and last year's had Miami on top. He even said he agreed and the computers had it right.
Last time I checked, there's no defending champs bonus points in the BCS system. Besides, there are only two undefeated teams left. I'm sick and tired of people whining about Miami not being #1. In the BCS system, it's only important to be in the top 2. Just ask Nebraska and Florida State (twice).
