I am not a big fan of that fade play from anywhere but running it from the 5 yard line is rediculous. The QB does not have enoungh time to get the ball where it needs to be fast enough before the defensive back can react. That play is better run from at least 10 yards or further . I cant remember i saw that play even succeed. My God with Spurrier's playbook that is the best he could come up with . That play gives you one option and one option only. Roll that damn fast QB out and give him a couple of run pass options. They outplayed Auburn and Tubberville just outcoached Spurrier in the second half.
Really? And with USC talent being half of Auburn's ... Imagine that! What was the betting line on this game? Spurrier is a great coach ... he was beaten on 1 trick play ... the On-sides kick USC didn't "touch" the FB the entire third quarter ... THIS NEW CLOCK RULE As for the end, USC was down 24-10 and Spurrier's playcalling brought USC to the verge of almost winning this game ... Spurrier rolled the dice and he came up short ... but USC scored 17 against the same team LSU played two weeks ago WITH MUCH LESS TALENT THAN LSU Sorry, pal ... I won't drink your Tubby Kool-aid
I was pretty dumbfounded at that last play and everyone in the stands seemed to be as well. I didn't expect S Carolina to be in this game but that last play was so anti-climactic.
Yeah the fade works best from the 19 yard line with a receiver at least 6'3". Oh wait, that sounds like what LSU should have done with Dwayne Bowe on that first down play against Auburn. Too bad our OC was out to lunch.
[They outplayed Auburn and Tubberville just outcoached Spurrier in the second half.[/quote] I hate Auburn but This is not the first coach Tubberville has ever outcoached.
The last play against Auburn for LSU wasn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be. I'm more upset about the sack than that final throw, and really I was satisfied with Russell's performance. Putting Scott in may have made a difference.
All they needed was one yard for the first down. Get the first and spike the ball at least. That gives you 3 more downs to throw the F#$@#$ fade pass. The old ball coach is loosing it.
Spurrier likes the fade too much. That is all they threw at UF with Wuerfeil (sp?). Oh wait, that's all he could throw. Seriously Spurrier relies on the fade passes way too much but to call it on the last play in the endzone when they should've gone for the 1st down. A naked boot leg or reverse would've gotten them the first down and maybe a TD. How many times did they run the WR screen. Load up one side with 3 WR's then at the snap one backs up to catch the pass. It was like Jimbo getting hung up on a few certain plays in a game. Hehehe!
Haven't you heard? ...... Auburn gets outplayed every single game ...... we've won 20 of the last 21 conference games on pure luck alone :hihi:
