Without discussing the merits and demerits of the BCS system, I just thought it important to point out how fantastic it is that we are debating the BCS and LSU's awful #7 ranking in the BCS poll at this time. Just think, in November just four short years ago we were debating if and when Gerry Dinardo would be fired. Now we're complaining because we may just miss the national championship game. And, even if we don't make it to the Sugar Bowl, LSU fans realize that the best is yet to come, that the program is in great shape and only getting better, and that we are, once again, becoming one of the dominant programs in college football. So, debate on about the B(C)S. I'm just glad that's all we have to complain about.
I agree with that sentiment. I was thinking last year at the beginning when everyone was talking NC, 'let's just get through this season without embarassing ourselves, then we'll be up there for the next few years at least.'
I also agree! It's GREAT to be argueing about the BCS!!! This season is making me feel like I do about the internet: "What the hell did I ever do before???" Last season, I viewed going to the Cotton Bowl (which, traditionally has been one of the most exciting non-BCS bowls) as a big thing. Now...going to the Cotton Bowl seems like a disappointment! It's great to be good!!!!
As resently as a few weeks ago we were being projected to the Music City Bowl with Auburn being projected to be in the BCS.
I like Saban's view about LSU's place in the poll's and BCS, he could care less. Some coaches will actully comment during the season about where their team is ranked and make a case for a higher ranking etc. I could never imagine Saban doing that . Its all take care of business. I'm sure in his mind he does consider the polls etc. however, he wants his team to focus only on winning the next game. Saban has taken the cliche "one game at a time" which alot of coaches and teams only pay lip service to and has (at least after Fla.) ingrained it in the team's psyce. My favorite comment by Tech's coach after the game was that it appeared to him as though LSU is on a mission. My point, I guess, is that Saban would nevr join in this discussion and I hear many fans moaning about over analysis of the polls, BCS, and what bowl LSU may play in. They argue LSU should solely focus on the next win. I agree that this is correct for the coaches and players. However, as a fan, these discussions are all part of having a team that is playing well and having success. Its exciting. What the heck else are we suppose to do when our team is winning ? Talk about the weather ? The glass is half full.... It will be full by season's end !
