I never count a recruit from another state as a done deal until they sign the papers. And even in state for that matter. Others are still recruiting some of our committed players. Welcome to big time football. Texas will get a good QB because of one thing. Vince young is probably going to the draft and kids will see an opening to come in and play right away.
Texas seems to have a knack of keeping its players through their senior year. I think Benson was a senior when he left. So was Roy Williams. So was Derrick Johnson.
Even if he wins the Heisman (he won't) and the national title (he may) this season, Vince Young isn't leaving for the pros this year. Why would he? If he returns, Texas still has the most talent in the Big XII next season (I think), he has another solid year, is the Heisman front-runner *and* is a strong candidate for the #1 overall pick in the 2007 Draft.
