Yep...this is from the Dallas Morning News today: UT players even refused to come out and collect the second-place trophy during the postgame awards ceremony. NCAA officials went to UT's dressing room twice to summon anybody wearing burnt orange. Dennis Poppe, NCAA director of championships, said it was the first time in 17 years the losing team failed to collect the runner-up trophy. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/062804dnspocwslede.2a33bea9b.html sounds like they could not handle losing and made a scene about getting the second place trophy. Great sportsmanship there UT....kudos to you!
I can't wait to see what sort of spin the Unamerican Statesman here in Austin gives to this childish, unsportsmanlike behavior by a team that got beat fair and square in two straight games and now wants to whine about their own failure to prevail against "inferior" opposition.
Posted about this as well in smack forum... Lil churchill is proud of his team.....Texas coach Augie Garrido said "We don't have to have that trophy to know we are champions." Basically a slap in the face to CSF who earned their title by winning. HELLO Augie, your team did not win and is not champions! One can only wonder if he has some hard feelings towards his former team, CSF.
That's a very WEAK move by Texas. :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob:
An absolute disgrace to the fans who went to Omaha and stayed to watch the games ... especially those LSU fans who stayed to watch the games ... a disgrace to College Baseball ... typical whiny, arrogant longhorns I can't wait until OU & Stoops pistol whips them again this year ... not a sweet pistol whipping like the one they gave "Ned" the first time (66 points), but a real "BAD" whipping. ... unforgivable
UT (and ESPN) annointed themselves champions before the CWS even started. Everyone else was just playing for 2nd. Garrido MUST have gone to the Pete Carroll School of Inventing False National Championships.
Between them and USC, I sometimes wonder why we even bother to play the games. Seems like the results don't matter.
The TRULY sad thing about this is that I thought that Augie was a classier guy than that... ...looks like he's not... :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis:
