Statred lookin for replacement team for the Virginia Tech date next year. I vote for Nebraska ( http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=3&SPID=22&DB_OEM_ID=100&DB_LANG=&KEY=&Q_SEASON=2004 ). They have the date open and only have 10 games scheduled. Will be looking for more. See if you can find one. Then lets see who our scheduler comes up with. :geaux:
But they only have 5 home games scheduled. They may be interested if we went there next year to get 6 games. Maybe someone here can go ask about this with some Husker fans.
Nebraska would be an excellent choice and playing them in a mid-season game vs an early season game would be perfect. It would let us get our cohesion and confidence established. Also, I say we just burn VT's school down. I bet they would think twice about backing out. VT is obviously scared!! And WTF is a "Hokie" anyway?
I'd like to see us play a mid-level Pac-10 or Big 10 team. Those areas have a lot of voters in the polls, and thinking ahead, it would be good to get some attention outside the south early in the year. It's important to remember, we might be starting a red-shirt freshman quarterback in their first career start, so this first game might be ugly offensively. I hope we try to get a decent opponent, not a great one, for that reason.
I think a team that will probably win one of the weaker conferences would be a decent choice (example North Texas). Since the computers and the BCS strength of schedule component is stupid, it would be better to play an 8-1 Conf USA team than a 5-5 Big 10 school. Now with human voters, it might make a difference to play a BCS conference team, but Human voters aren't that competent either. My vote is for a North Texas type unless we can get a major school. (Nebraska, Oklahoma, something like that)
You might be right Dark Hornet since Bowling Green and Miami of Ohio are ranked above us in some of the computer polls. But they may end up havin a loosing year. If they loose 3 or more games that wouldn't help. By the way we should move up in the computer rankins with a lost by one of those two tonight.
Nebraska would be GREAT!!! If nothing else, to avenge the Sugar Bowl trashing they gave us in--what? '88??? All I remember is that I was either 10 or 11 years old and cried like a baby --> D) while watching LSU get smacked around. And after the game, I think I burned everything I had that was red. Took me a LOOOOOOooooong time before I could ever even look at that red "N" without getting angry
Nebraska would be a good pick, but is there any way we get them? I know it would take a home and home, but I don't see LSU doing that in any other year than a 12 game season.
